Re: Alternator
I was going to, but due to my inability in finding someone who could help, I spent $150 to have my 12v generator rebuilt. I would try your question on one of the Chris Craft Facebook groups.

Help w/finding alternator that fits…
Anyone out there know the best route in obtaining an alternator to replace my port gen? I can’t seem to find the info, though I know I saw it somewhere…
Anyway, it’s for an ML , I’ll try to post the dimensions.
Thanks everyone,
Randy

Threaded drain plug...
I’ve misplaced the threaded drain plug for our 33’ DE Cruiser. I thought it was a normal NPT 1/2” t(read, but it appears to be a finer thread. Anyone know of a source or work around other than a complete replacement of the fitting? Thanks everyone! I hope this finds everyone healthy and busy.

Re: Replacing starboard shaft
Thought I would send a closing reply to this issue so’s others can benefit... On closer inspection of the othe rbronze shaft, I was uneasy with some of the scoring that I saw where the packing nuts had been, so I de died to replace both shafts with SS. The prop shop I used suggested I bring in the c...

Re: Replacing starboard shaft
So this is what I have gleaned from the Google Machine, so far... Repairing may be possible, but “by whom”is the larger question. Quotes for a (new) replacement look to all be in the $500 range and the material quoted was SS(Aq19) Still tbd is the potential troubles arrising from running with bronze...

Replacing starboard shaft
The starboard shaft(1 1/4” x 82”) on our ‘49 CC Cruiser has been spun at the coupling, making it impossible to lock onto the coupling. I am unaware of any repair possibility , so I’m looking for an appropriate supplier for a replacement. The shaft it’s replacing is bronze(is there a way to confirm i...

Re: Hercules ML starting issues
What I meant, are the plug wires in the right sequence for the direction the distributer is turning. I saw where someone installed the plug wires on the port side same as the stb engine. Port engine obviously didn't run. Watched the video, almost sounds like your starter might be turning the wrong ...

Re: Hercules ML starting issues
Based on what you have said the engine valves appear to be closing (compression 90-110 in each cylinder). Valve / engine timing may be an issue (when firing the engine exhausts through the carb, might be firing on the exhaust stroke or when the exhaust valve is partially open); I would check to mak...

Re: Hercules ML starting issues
Hahaha, like I said, the only way to get her to fire was to inject fuel into each cylinder, replace plug, and hit it! There is pressure exiting the carb as it cranks. If I close the choke, fuel is spitting out the vent tube for the reservoir of the carb. There is only that one burp and then she just...

Re: IPad: uploading Video
So the answer to this question is...NO YOU CAN’T! I’m sure it’s because of the cost of bandwidth and all, so what we need to do is create an account on another internet site, upload the video, pic, etc. to that site, copy and paste the associated link for said media into the body of your CCABC post ...

Linking to Dropbox only works when the viewer already has a Dropbox account.
Anyone have any suggestions that work for them? Or maybe a pointer to where I can learn how to do this?

Re: Hercules ML starting issues

Re: Hercules ML starting issues
Thanks, BR! I will try to post a video(again), but this doesn’t look like a backfire because there is no flame. The carb only has one choke that I’m aware of, so I’m not sure of the other choke you spoke of. I still can’t upload the video that shows this. I wonder if it is a limition because I’m on ...
