Re: Proper seat cushion supports for my '42, 17' Special Runabout?
To Greg & Don, thank you for your replies. With your input, information on the hull card, drawings obtained from the Mariner's Museum and photos of other 1942, 17' SR members boats, I have determined my boat did not come with spring seat supports. Now I am ready to proceed with the interior. Thanks ...

Re: Proper seat cushion supports for my '42, 17' Special Runabout?
Chris Craft Side Profile.pdf Hello Don, thank you for your reply. I have the Side Profile drawing (attached) and I've seen 2 other '42, 17' SR with this arrangement. I agree the SR was an economy model that may not have coil spring seat bases. Today I will call the Mariner's Museum to see if there ...

Proper seat cushion supports for my '42, 17' Special Runabout?
Hello, I am trying to determine the proper type of seat cushion supports for my 1942, 17' Special Runabout. In my research I have found some with the spring type and others with just planks on an angle that slope down at the rear. The side profile drawing shows planks on an angle. Any comments will ...

1942 17' Special Runabout Battery Box, Tool Box
Hello, I am looking for some photos and/or diagrams of the battery box and tool box(?) and any other factory items located in the engine compartment of my 1942 17' Special Runabout. These items were missing when I bought the boat. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks! Jim

Thanks for the replies. I reviewed Dannenberg's book, Chapter 9, Bottom Planking, which said: "Install the strut, making sure it is correctly aligned with the center of the keel...." Recently I bought a Craftsman laser level (Craigslist, $25), placed it on a tripod and used it to line up the strut, ...

Drilling new keel for prop shaft, '42, 17' Special R/A
I am preparing to drill the hole for the propeller shaft in my new keel on my 1942, 17' Special Runabout. After carefully measuring the old keel, I noted the hole was located 1/8" off center to port and was WAY off in regards to center line of boat. The rudder bracket appears to be 1/2" off center t...

Exhaust Tubing
Bill,
If the tubing is the correct size I also may be interested in a section for my '42 17' runabout.
