is a thermostat used on a hercules mbl? anyone know about paragon transmission.

Having problems getting the boat engine to run, also having problems finding all of the parts that I would like to have for a complete rebuild. Wondering if anyone had any luck with a different type carb On an MBL engine. If so how did you treat the manifold? Thanks in advance Rick.
