Re: 1954-1956 Sea Skiff decals

Joe Carlson is in charge of it -- if you want a couple pairs, contact him at <[email protected]>
The cost is $20.00, 1.40 tax and $3.00 s+h. We are not making no money on it.
That is cost.

Re: Shaft Coupling - Lateral Alignment

I would wait for the "real experts" to comment, but if it was my boat, I would check the stuffing box, too. Maybe it is worn from the loose strut bearing, maybe the flax is worn out, and so forth. It might be as simple as putting in new flax, or you might need a new stuffing box -- they wear out! It...

There's the positioning, it is about a half an inch or so where the side windows come to the side rail.

Re: DENBY: 1954 22' Sea Skiff with a past!

That is the reason your top is so low -- the mounting doo-dads are too far forward. Hence, the ass-end is too low, and you can't slide the front bow up high enough to where it should be, and your bows crash into the top of the windshield when you try to fold it down. Somewhere else in here (last sum...

1954-1956 Sea Skiff decals

The original Sea Skiffs had decals on the stern quarter that just said "Sea Skiff" Later, c. 1957 or 1958, they started putting those pot metal things on there instead, I guess because you could unscrew them and take them off when painting, which is not possible with decals. Some more evidence of Ch...

Re: DENBY: 1954 22' Sea Skiff with a past!

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but that is not an original canvass top on the blue boat. Mine is made from the factory originals except for the windows. It had square windows. I made my windows a little larger on the height than the originals. If you want to see pix of the originals that ca...

Re: Introduction

From what I can see in the pictures, the through hull fittings are in the same exact place as mine, but I agree that usually the factory installed models also had the front hatch. But look at the one Grant Stanfield just found -- toilet is on the hull card but no front hatch. Another clue to its yea...

Re: DENBY: 1954 22' Sea Skiff with a past!

Nice boat, Grant! I see that is #169. Mine is #155, also built at Cadillac. Interesting the way they customized the forward bulkhead to accommodate the searchlight control knob on the starboard side. Does it match on the port side? Looks like a real solid boat, and I like that color, never saw one i...

Here are some pictures that may help that I have collected off the net over the years -- I cannot vouch for their originality. I replaced the original tubing with 1/2" stainless which is a litle heavier than the original galvanized pipe. I got mine at BMG Metals in Richmond, VA but that should not b...

Converting a Hercules to Fresh Water Cooling

Does anyone have any information (or plans) on this topic? I had ring trouble after St. Michaels and when I took off the head, I found 3 years of running in salt water (despite flushing it after every use) had resulted in precipitation of salt and minerals that partially or substantially clogged qui...

I second what Al Benton has said: Everyone should read the "FROM THE CLUB" message which I am posting below, and then try to imagine the depth of the hole those who stepped forward found themselves in and had to dig themselves out of to get the Club back to this point. Even this "From the Club" mess...

Mine has them and they are stainless, but I don't think they are original because it has aluminium on the rub rails. Chris Craft Buff (It ain't Yellow!)

Mr. Kimball, The picture that Bill Bassler posted is from Don Dannenberg -- Continental Buff from a later year. As you can see from the pictures Craig Wilson posted, for reasons I can't exactly figure out, this color looks different depending on the camera angle, the light and sun/shadow. This year,...
