Re: Belt sizes for 350Q motor (w alternator)

OK, for posterity's sake, this is what I came up with. Remember my concern was the 1/2 (13mm) wide belt was riding above the V on the pulley, and as it wore, it would leave belt dust all over. Plus I think it was at a different angle. My logic was to use a belt not so wide, and I was considering a F...

Belt sizes for 350Q motor (w alternator)

I want to replace the automotive belts (angle 36) that are the wrong pitch with the proper pitch (angle 40) FHP (Fractional HP) belts. I know one to replace is a Dayco 17460 which is 13x1070 (mm) or .53" x 46.3". I think I need a FHP 3L460 to replace that one. But the number on the other belt is wor...

Thanks for your advice, but again the automotive vacuum hose is too thick of a wall, it should be a thinner wall to get the ideal look. Perhaps I am too picky, it is only a boat!

more hose/wire conn covering

Brian, thanks for your message! Well, I got my invite to Lk Tahoe, but it is a push to get it done. I am at Ike's shop now, but still a lot left to do. I was going to email you, I think you sent some shots of behind the dash, or maybe it was Kerry. I lost them when my hard drive crashed, could you s...

What type of hose to use to cover the electrical connector?

I am putting in new wiring on my '48 20' Custom, and CC used a thin wall black hose to cover the wire connector terminal where it is fastened to the wire. The only hose I have been able to find is a thicker wall automotive vacuum hose; which makes it look to large. Anybody found something more appro...

I was always told by the prop guys that it is really pretty simple. What is the max RPM of the engine? If you aren't getting the RPM to the max redline, you have too much pitch. If it is going above redline, not enough pitch. Doesn't matter what you run for reduction gear ratios for the proper rpm v...

I could use a 12 ft section of the 3 1/2" stuff. Is it really 24 ft for $78? I would take 24 ft for $78, for sure! And thank you for doing this!

More about the dual trumpet horns/ under deck horn(s)

Kerry, you should post your horn pix you sent to me: then others see what we are talking about! Your style of horn, now THAT is interesting! Ike's is more like a klaxon stye, long and narrow... I wonder if this is the same "grab what you can at the local parts store..." deal. Anybody else have pictu...

Mt Dora show

Bill.

Four of us from Seattle. Rob Dapron, Ron Stevenson, Ike Kielgass, Dick Dow. Someone should at least buy us a round for the furthest traveled, don'cha think? All of us are ACBS members, CC owners, our boats are in the ACBS directory.

Bill, Yep, you got it exactly! How do you do that? So I am anxious to see what some other people have to say, and what they have. Regardless, I think I will paint it the same way, and take the piece of plank with me to show the judges! I also wonder if I should send a piece of the wood to the folks ...

Custom talk

Don, Your idea a of custom thread would be great! Except you are two years too late to help us! Seriously, Kerry has done a great job of keeping us in touch with each other as we needed to. I am working on R-20-306, Rob Dapron did the wood work for me here in Seattle; the second one he has done. Her...

Sources for braided or cloth wire?

Looking for some sources for this old-style wire, gotta wire the 1948 20' Custom. Looking for both 10 & 14 gauge, and some with tracers in it.

Thanks for your help!

Bill,

Thanks for the lead, this is the stuff we used about 5 years ago, that is now turning to rust! I don't think we will have much choice but to use it again. it is difficult to keep flat and bend around the corners also. Any other suggestions out there?

Cabin Sliding Windows "Flat Fuzz" weatherstriping

For a 1953 Chris Craft Commander, we need to replace th e "Fuzz" on the vertical indide of the cabin where the window fits against it. We did it a few years ago, and the supposedly stainless steel is rusting away. This hard to deal with, because it has to stay flat as it bends around the shape of th...

Need a 20' Custom folding windshield

Just got a 1948 20' Custom, something we have always wanted. I bought it very cheap, needs all new wood, and has no hardware. I have found most of the hardware, but am looking for the very expensive and complicated folding windshield. They made 360 of these boats, there are not that many around now,...

Need Raw water pumps for 350 "Q" motors

Understand there are two, one RH and one LH. Any body got and used ones? Rebuilt ones? Or advice where to get them rebuilt? I think I would like to get a pair for standby use.

You are welcome to e-mail me direct.

Thanks!
