327F heat exchanger pressure cap
Does anyone know the correct heat exchanger pressure cap value? I'm currently running a 5 PSI cap. I had a heat exchanger tube fail and the seawater pump had enough pressure to fill the fresh water side with seawater and overcome the "radiator" cap and pee out the overflow tube into the bilge.

Re: 327F / 350 Vortec sea water pump adj. brackets
OK, I finally got the Vortec conversion done. It was an interesting/frustrating process using the original 327F externals but the result very satisfactory. The additional power and torque are a great improvement. I felt the 327F's were working pretty hard beyond about 3000 RPM. The new engines feel ...

The roller cam with the Vortec heads will provide better fuel mileage along with increased power.

327F / 350 Vortec sea water pump adj. brackets
I originally posted this under the general Engines and Powertrain category. I'm reposting this under Fiberglass.... to broaden it's distribution. I'm in the process of replacing my 327F engines with Vortec head 350's in my 36' 1965 Constellation. The 3/8" tapped holes in the RH Vortec head vs the 7/...

Re: Cost to re-fasten bottom planks
Here's the follow-up to my original question: I waited until summer 2011 to have a professional wooden boat surveyor pull a few screws from the bottom. His take was that they showed only moderate deterioration and were still good for a few more years but should be checked about every 5 years. Since ...

327F / Vortec sea water pump adj. bracket
I'm in the process of replacing my 327F engines with Vortec head 350's in my 36' 1965 Constellation. The 3/8" tapped holes in the RH Vortec head vs the 7/16" tapped holes in the 327F head are in different locations and have different spacing, so the original 327F bracket used for the Sherwood sea wa...

Re-fastening bottom
Is there anyone out there who has pulled fasteners in a 40 year old CC and not had to refasten? What did they look like? If I decide to refasten - Assuming I can get the original screws out, do I put back the same size screw or go up in size or length? If they break off or the head strips, what then...

Cost to re-fasten bottom planks
I own a 1965 36' Constellation (plank over Plywood bottom) that has been well maintained its entire life sitting in brackish or salt water (no winter on the hard storage). During its last survey it was suggested that next time some bottom fasteners should be pulled for routine inspection. After 40 y...

Compass Repair
As you now know it's normal for the compass oil to darken with age. Replacing it is not a do it yourself project. You need to contact a professional repair shop to change out the oil, replace the jewel and pin if necessary and reseal the diagham to prevent bubbles. You can check to see if it needs n...
