maritimeclassics; Thanks for the detailed description. Believe it or not I envisioned something like that (if I understand it at first blush) My dread seems to have come from the idea of Laying on my back drilling straight up thru-out the old stringers and new frames...x32 Need to read with more co...

Re: stringers

It is very easy to replace stringers , after boat is leveled steve Not sure I follow, The boats Is upside down and on it's back Cutting the profile isn't really a big concern to me. In my boat there are bronze bolts that are fit through holes which are drilled all the way from one edge of the strin...

Thanks all for the reply's and great input. I know replacing the stringers is the probably the right thing to do but it seems so daunting and I have an incredible facility for screwing up alignments even after a life time of fiddling & fabricating wood, metal, plastics, etc.I rather not have to Klug...

Stringers, How bad would partial sister stringers be??

I have '35 cc 19' RA. It's upsilon-down, all new bottom frames (and top tide planking) I'd like to avoid replacing the stringers by strategically sistering on supplemental stringers. The stringers are in fair to very good shape. No cracks and minimal warping but, they're 76 years old. I really don't...

That's Ironic. I have one of the slant pole versions I welded and re-drilled it to be a 901. They happen to be completely identical except the small accommodation inside for the angled pole.

Ken.

No it's not. With my education on these lights is complete I can say confidently that one is not a 901. Not even sure it's a C.C. I do happen to have a correct one that needs chrome if interested.

My experiences with performance sports car fuel systems are several fold: -Ethanol is very corrosive as evidenced by evansjw44 & 63 constellation experiences, It dissolves whatever it can find. -Ethanol is added for emissions reasons but also often to give a false octane reading. It’s kind of octane...

All, Ya I figured I’d have to submerge them in about 40 gallons of CPES to observe any benefit at all. Now’s the time to just replace the stringers as I am currently replacing all the bottom frame members. I’ve allready re-planked and finished the whole topside, deck and sides. This is the home run ...

These are my stab at guage artwork for my pre-war CC RA and some post war tachs I have laying around. I had only two direct scans, one workable pic, and lots of fuzzy dash pics. Hello Al, It penetrates into the wood and restores the fibers but doesn't build up on the surface (like a varnish). The fact that it is a good primer is a secondary benefit of the product, not the initial intent. I’ve been following the evolution (I.E. definition & claims) of CPES for years as my pr...

I have a ‘35 C.C.19' custom the gauges of which I am restoring. Thanks for the information and nice job.

I know replacing them is probably the right thing to do. This is the home stretch though after the complete top side and man I’m tired of woodworking.

Thanks again and thanks the technical designation for the Doug fir.

Chris Craft Bow light Identification… a little help please??

Hello all,

Silly little question. I’m sure this is a CC bow light (not sure which models but) Inside it has in raised lettering, either a “106” or “901” depending how you look at it.

Which is it please?

Thanks much, PK

P.S. Flag staff fits vertically

Thanks Mark, That’s pretty, much what I wanted to hear. The port stringer does have a warp, but it’s where I wouldn’t think it would effect anything. It begins under the front seat and ends at maybe 3 degrees at the bow end. I doubt it’s anything recent (the warp) its 75 yrs old, but unless it indic...
