Re: Rejoined after haitus
Thanks for the reply. I am glad to see I am not alone and there is someone else in the same boat!
Please let me know if they find a fix.

Rejoined after haitus
I have just come back after a couple year hiatus and now can only access boat buzz/trading dock etc..with my current log on. No archives are available to me like they used to be. I can not log in on the main page or even try to reset my password. When I try, it comes up page not available. Is their ...

This is where you offer the widow exactly what she believes he had invested in the old wooden boat!

Teak - Vinyl - Floor - Covering
On the hull card of my 1960 17' Ski Boat, the original floor covering is listed as #7055 Teak-Vinyl-Floor-Covering. Does anyone know if this is still available, or if not, what may be an acceptable substitution? When I purchased the boat 2 years ago the flooring was covered in black ribbed rubber. A...

Nichols Restoration
Talk to Pat @ Nichol's Restoration in Branchport, N.Y. He knows these old engines inside and out. He not only got my old Chevrolet 283 running like new, he took me out on Keuka Lake on my ( 1960 Chris Craft Ski Boat )and gave me pointers as to what to look for that may cause any problems such as whe...

Ski Tow
My 1960 17' Ski Boat has the keel mounted version. In fact, the September 2007 post by Chris Hall is my boat that must have been advertised on e-bay prior to my purchase of it in August of 2009.

Citristrip
I am getting good results with Citristrip I purchased at Lowes. It is very pasty, and will remove the old finish in 3 applications. Not offensive in any way, smells like oranges.

I was considering building a barrelback replica and went as far as purchasing the plans from Glen-L. They have an online newsletter that looks to be very helpfull and online support groups. It may be worth looking into.

OK fellow Chris Craft Brethren. I am an honest, hard working post-war runabout man. But, I am concerned that I may be driven to underhanded activities if I am constantly being subjected to beautiful cruisers such as this one and especially " Bella Nave' " as pictured on our latest Brass Bell. I knew...

283 Antifreeze Winter Protection Questions
I am a new owner this summer of a 1960 17' ski boat with the 283 inboard. I am not totally familiar with the operation of the cooling system and would like to get any information on how to effectively get antifreeze into the entire system so I will not have any surprises next season. Where would I a...

Elbow Grease
I threw some elbow grease tonight at my ski boat. I scraped the heavy stuff with a plastic drywall mud knife. I have not tried the dawn soap yet, but I will this weekend. Thanks for your suggestions. As far as the screws, they do not seem to be stripped, just loose, so I am tightening them. I guess ...

No green in my bilge
Thanks for everyone's response. I do not have signs of anything green in my bilge.I have an oil based film that I believe is the result of an earlier engine oil leak. In fact, the wood seems surprisingly solid and almost new, maybe the oily film was a good preserver. Being new to wooden boating, I a...

Bilge Cleaning
My 1960 17' Ski Boat had an oil leak while the previous owner owned the boat. The block had a crack, now it has a new block and no leak issues. I have removed some floor boards to clean old leaves and odds and ends that keep plugging up the bilge pump. The boat spent some time outside last fall with...

Chines
Thanks for all of your nice comments about my new baby. Can someone explain what a hard chine is and how it would affect the handling of a boat? I am assuming you are talking about the horizontal, shaped plank on both stern sides that I have seen on other ski boats that mine lacks. Is this correct? ...

Finally own a wooden Chris Craft!
Last summer I purchased a 1964 Chris Craft Corsair ( fiberglass )and could finally call myself a Chris Craft owner and join the club. Two days ago, I bought my 2nd of the marquee and this one is mahogany. It's a 1960 17' Ski Boat, 283 ci, 185 hp. It floats and runs and will get used for the remainde...

Sunlounger, Runabout or Tri-Hull
I now believe my Corsair must be a Sunlounger since it has the back to back seats. Please excuse my newbie ignorance, but does a tri-hull look like a boston whaler type of boat? There is a Corsair advertised as a tri-hull on the trading dock. I thought it was a whaler in disguise. Please set me stra...

New Corsair Owner
I am finally a Chris Craft owner! I have admired them for years. We just purchased a 1964 Corsair 15' and I believe it must be an XL150 runabout since it has an outboard. Is this a correct assumption? I just joined the club yesterday as this was the day I closed the deal on the boat. I am looking fo...
