Re: Fuel pump
Same pump went on all the six and four cylinder engines. www.classicboatconnection.com has rebuilt ones or the kits.

Re: Fuel pump
Hi, have you taken the pump off and looked at it? Might be something simple Like a pin falling out of the cam lever. You can install an electric fuel pump but it is highly recommended that you put in a low oil pressure shutoff switch so the pump will shutdown if the engine quits due to fuel line bre...

Re: My Chris Craft
Hi, Welcome to the boat buzz. My best guess, looking at The Essential Guide, your boat is a cavalier. Hull no. is more likely V15 942- V is for the Cavalier division and 15 is the boat length. I say that it must be 15' long because the 16's were outboards. 942 is the production sequence #. These wer...

Judging from the condition, I believe the upholstery to be original.

Hi, My ‘56 has the original upholstery in flame as the hull card says. It is more of a yellow color Naugahyde.

Sorry, I am trying to hang on to as many original parts as I can. I may someday refasten the windshield to gain clearance for the trim piece.

Re: Hatch drawings for a 56 CC Sedan Cruiser with flying bridge
Assuming that the hatches are the same size. Outside of the opening measures 21” wide x 21” long. The hatch is 22 1/4” wide and 21” long overall. The fwd half is 10 3/8” and the aft section is 10 1/2”. I removed the drip edge because the windshield has settled and caused a clearance problem.

My 28 footer has a two piece hatch with a piano hinge. There was like a drip edge gutter thing that runs across where it meets the top of the cabin door. I could get you some pictures if you really need them.

Hi Ray, Seems like you have been pretty thorough with your diagnostics. One thing that might be suspect is the pertronics unit, you might want to swap that out with traditional points. Might be worth a try?

Re: water pump grease
Hi, Yes, you do remove the cap. Clean out any funky grease that might be in there. Pack enough grease in the fitting on the pump and in the cap to allow the cap to turn on a few threads.
Before a day of running give the caps a turn to keep grease in the pump.

Welcome to the Buzz and to the CCABC! First off, post pictures of your boat if you can. We would all like to see your new purchase. You described your boat has a traditional bottom and has been out of the water for some time. Depending on the condition it will probably need some soaking before launc...

Re: Repair damage to transom/deck corner
Ouch! The easy fix would be put some good filler in it and sand to shape, patch in some stain and varnish. The best fix would be to cut that section out and put in a dutchman.

Re: Help new bottom or fiberglass?
The old rule of thumb was $1,000.00 per foot for a bottom replacement to start. I’m sure that has changed. So the numbers are probably not too far out of line.
It’s really all about what sort of cost you are willing to incur.

Re: Help new bottom or fiberglass?
Hi, Welcome to the Boat Buzz. The question you're asking really isn't an either or answer IMHO it's an emphatic no on glassing over an existing bottom. If there are any problems glassing just encapsulates them and exacerbates any rot that may be there. You may get by for a season or two but anything...

I don’t know where they would have placed it at the factory, it’s hard to say. I’d say any place convenient would do. I have mine mounted to Stb of the helm on my 28’r.

Hi Jim,
This usually happens on the live seams, which looks like here. It helps on the deeper seams if you pay in a little cotton before you caulk those.

Hi, I just within the last couple months renewed my policy w/ Hagerty for my cruiser. I didn’t get any notification like that.
I hear a lot about Grundy insurance. I couldn’t tell you what they might require to get a policy for your boat though.
Good luck.

I see www.classiboatconnection.com has user manuals for Chris Craft engines. The rotations are referred to as right hand or opposite. Right hand engines were used for single screw applications, meaning turning clockwise as viewed from the aft end. In twin screws the opposite rotation was installed o...

Not unusual. The elbow will get pretty hot towards the flange at the manifold where the cooling water doesn’t reach. The burnt paint there does look unsightly but it’s normal. I have bronze replacement elbows which I leave unpainted, they gain a nice patina.

Glad to see one. Mine sits precariously in a notch on the edge of the wood. I wondered what was supposed to be there. I think that it was removed because it looks like it might cause some interference when clambering in and out of the hatch.

Good point, also stay away from any synthetic oils too. The reverse gear will not work because they are too slick.

Re: Old original K motor start up
Welcome to the Boat Buzz. First I assume the K turns free. You can begin by doing a compression test to rule out any problems like stuck valves, which these are notorious for if they have sat for extended periods without being turned over. If that goes well I would still spray the cylinders with som...
