Jim is correct. Boat titles were not issued in Washington or Idaho until the mid fifties. I have several wooden boats of the era and have changed the title number back to the hull id number. The number you have posted is a modern registration indicating that the boat was brought in from another stat...

You do not indicate your home state, but here in Washington the worst scenario is they give you registration only for three years before issuing a title. I have a 1959 Volksboat going through this procedure currently because if does not have a hull number. Now with my Chris Craft Rocket they issued ...

Don I owned 40 foot steel hulled sedan cruise in the late 70s. The boat was built in Portland OR in 1955 by Jensen Marine. The biggest problem was the hole that a small piece to driftwood poked in the hull above the propeller (singe screw). Look carefully in this area as the turblence of the water e...

I have a boat lift for my Chris Craft Deluxe and feel that it provide a secure docking system and extra insurance. I only raise the boat 2" because we are in a no wake zone on the quiet part of the lake. The trick is to raise the boat just enough so a wake does not lift it from the bunks but leaving...

I use a couple of engine hoist to roll over 16 footers and other jobs when working on boat, but the thing they won't do is reach the bow ring and still clear the trailer wheels. On full extention of the hoist you are limited to about 500 pounds and the legs interfear with pulling the trailer free. W...

I also use a Milwaukee driver model 2450-22. I lightly set the screw with the gun then hand tighten the final turn or so. I just prefer to feel the screw "grasping" the substrate. - - - Bill

It helps to have an assistant to wiggle the shift lever just a little to find the "true neutral" at this point it you should be able to rotate the outer clutch housing. We just adjusted my 49 CC Deluxe an hour ago and the only time the clutch fingers were free was less than a 1/2" movement on the to...

Last fall I waited for ABM to restock the plans and finally called them and got a set promptly. I have a replica speedster built in the early sixtys that I am restoring. The orginal builder was very accurate in reproducing the orginal. It seems to match the plans amazing well. So just call them to s...

Al, the boat I have in the shop hull # R-16-797 has mahogany on the decks and top of the engine box. The balance of the boat is Spanish cedar. The transom is currently mahagony but has obviously been replaced. This boat was shipped Oct 24, 1947 to Portland Or. Spanish cedar is not easily found here ...

My 16' Special runabout (Rocket) was signed by Gordon Benson with a BSO No. B-7451 (R-16-797). Which plant would have manufactured this boat? I am unable to decipher the name on our 1949 17' Deluxe Runabout is BSO No. C-3134 (R17-1817). I have attached the hull card http://s2.postimage.org/1NrvSS.jp...

I have built two car barns through the years. The photo is of my current one is 3500 sq feet. This building holds 24 trucks and fire trucks circa 1925. We use a dozen of these on our vehicles, about half are 6 volt. They give us a greater life cycle on the battery then the lowend battery tenders.
