Re: Throttle rod bushing for 1950 CC Racing Runabout

No haven't tried McMaster Carr. the wall thickness of any bushing could only be .001-.002 over the 3/8inch diameter of the rod based on the opening of the column shaft to make it work. Does that sound right?

Throttle rod bushing for 1950 CC Racing Runabout

Hello I'm trying to get my horn to work. I have a banjo type wheel with a horn ring. I need to isolate the throttle rod from the steering column to prevent a constant ground. Does anyone know where to source what I believe must be a very thin plastic, nylon bushing(s) that would wrap around the rod ...

Ok pulled the water pump and sure enough there was a puddle of water right where it bolts to the block. Hope this is the cure! Thanks everyone for your help.

Re: MBL water in oil!

Thank Jim G for the details. Seems I'm heading I hope for a water pump rebuild. Seems the other symptoms you have outlined are not happening as the engine is running fine. I dread if I had those pinholes... Fingers crossed. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Re: MBL water in oil!

So do you think it's the seal within the water pump that could be bad letting water into the crankcase?

Re: MBL water in oil!

I meant the water pump is leaking (puking)a little out of the weep hole but not much. Could it be its seal that's bad as one of the causes?

MBL water in oil!

Hi I have water in my oil and have so far pulled the head to check for cracks in head and block. All looks good. Then pressure tested the oil cooler and even by passed it and still same results. I have been given advise on two more areas to look at- the water pump seal and a possible cracked exhaust...

Hi I just saved this engine from heading the scrap heap by a friend of mine. The serial number is 2910652 and I am just trying to see what year it was manufactured? If anyone has an idea, please let me know. Thanks

Hi Found the mention of the L in the 36-37 Master parts book. You are right it looks like it was offered for the 37 models. Mine, a 516 model would have had a Chrysler Crown but that is long gone. :(

Hi Brian, I will have to check the booklet copy I have at home tonight. I thought it was one of the sales brochures..again I have a copy. Nice to know that the L shares many parts in common with the M. Its just funny its never really mentioned in many publications.

Hi I dont have the distributor number and will get it off the unit this weekend. As for the Hercules block series I believe its a QXD.In the runabout specification sheets and or option sheets I have the L is mentioned as an option engine in the 1936 specifications book.
