Jerde Trailers are popular with the woodnen boat crowd in Minnesota. They are custom built right here - somewhere west of Minneapolis.

I have no experience with them and can not attest to the quality.

I just read the "Classic Boating" article. I noted the inaccuracy about Thompson Boat Co. of New York, Inc. having their toes in a fiberglass program prior to the purchase by Chris-Craft in January 1962. As you know, this is not true. Thanks Paul for the explanation. Also, the new fiberglass Corsair...

I got some wood grain vinyl stuff for my 1966 CC Corsair thru J C Whitney on-line. Not expensive and looks just like the original stuff.

I think it is designed for use on fake woody sided autos.

Steaming better not delaminated plywood. That would indicate use of non-waterproof adhesive. No one makes plywood without use of waterproof adhesive these days.

Chrysler engine on a stern drive

Hey all, I just obtained a wooden lapstrake stern drive boat by Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. She's a 1963 Off-Shore Deluxe 20'-4" model with Eaton Marine Powernaut outdrive, serial number B-20548. The engine is a Chrysler straight 6, model 225AYALX and serial number 80503. Cast into the block is the...

My x liked to burn candles all the time, even in the nylon tent while camping. The tent candle was a bit much for me. Yikes!

Lemonade yellow was a standard Pettit colour from the 1950s and 1960s. It was used by Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. on the Sea Lancer model. George Kirby, Jr. Paint Co. of New Bedford, Mass makes a perfect match and this was used on my '57 Sea Lancer. It is a very pale yellow. Andreas http://s1.posti...

Bad idea. Indivuals and corporations have been glassing wooden boats since fiberglass was first around the boating world in the 1940s, so Sierra Boat Company didn't originate this technique.
