Re: Chrysler Crown CA exhaust manifold
Hey John, I hear ya on that Fakebook thing. Such a waste of time. I have a page but it is used to keep up with my two sisters and the kids in Georgia. As the old parts inventory dries up, it forces the installation of modern power. You know me, keep the old flattys running as long as possible. Can't...

Chrysler Crown CA exhaust manifold
I am in search of an exhaust manifold for a Chrysler Crown model CA from the mid 30's, with a casting # E-24382-M. Jim Staib & Bud Bracket have helped me determine that the Chrysler Ace manifold will not bolt up to the CA engine. Any leads are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jim Martin

No sealer required. The canister is sealed via a flat rubber ring against the filter housing.

Jim Staib, would these PCV valves have been spring loaded.
If not, SteveH I have 2 NOS valves and would be willing to let 1 go.

How about cutting above the snap line from the eizenglass and adding material in between. You will want to check with your canvas person.

John
Very classy boat.
Have your canvas guy add length to the snap portion of your canvas. Zip in the canvas, mark where you will need the snaps to be installed. Google canvas snap installer tool if you want to install your own snaps, or return to the canvas shop and they should do it for you.

Ford 427FE oil pickup tube
Turns out it is a really a 390FE. More than likely the 427 was destroyed long ago and replaced with this. It looks as if the engine had been rebuilt with not much time on it, but the main & rod bearings were destroyed. My question is whether the pickup tube is a short one at the front of the pan, wh...

Re: KBL carbs won't idle
A possibility would be fuel in a float. The needle won't close against the seat if the float can't float, thus dripping fuel at lower speeds and cause a very poor low speed or engine stall at idle. 2nd the synchronized and idle speed set at 750 RPM.

Re: Distributor chain too loose?
The timing chain keeps the pistons in sync with the valves. The distributor is driven from a gear that is "secured" to the cam gear and NO the chain is not adjustable. A worn chain will cause performance and idle problems such as valves opening to late and ignition timing erratic at low rpm's. If th...

Remove the plastic child proof cap, use water pump pliers to remove the metal cover. After using either part A or B wipe the neck and cover with lacquer thinner on a rag. Makes cover removal much easier the next time around.

Re: Looking for 327
Don, I know someone who has a couple of 327 car engines. One is a small journal with a steel crank, this one is seized (rusted) and he doesn't know much about it other than it is standard bore. This would make a good piece but will take some elbow grease to get it apart. The second is a 68-69 block,...

Re: Replacement gas tank
By no means should you put an open flame to a fuel tank that has or recently had any fuel in it. You need to remove the fuel from the tank, remove the tank from the boat and then get out as much residual fuel as possible. Take your tank to a welding or job shop and let pro's handle the removal for y...

Re: PARAGON manual HELP!
John Paragon enclosed transmissions use SAE30 oil. The quantity of oil depends on the angle of installation. Models without a dipstick should be filled approximately half way up the housing. I would suggest pulling the drive coupler to inspect seal surface and if repair is required, your engine shop...

Sounds like you have good access to the drain bolt. Purchase a Sierra oil drain hose kit, they are all the same with the exception of the pan fitting. Ebay has the best prices. They are 42" long and 1/4npt on either end. Remove your drain plug and drill a 7/16" hole through the center and tap the he...

Re: Cylinder Sleeving (for KBL)?
I have sleeved all of my restorations for past 15 years. My materials, boring techniques and sleeve installation have changed over the years. I now use Melling HP sleeves, and when boring for the sleeve I leave a step at the bottom of the cylinder for the sleeve to set on. Bore every other hole, set...

Re: Throttle Cable repair
Drill a small hole at the end of the crack. Do this slowly to keep chips out of the inner casing and to keep the drill bit from contacting the inner core wire. Add a mini hose clamp at the beginning of the crack to keep the outer sleeve secured to the spiral cable casing.
