Re: Folding Helm Seats

I never received any replies to my posting, so I estimated the size, making the seats a little narrower so I could squeeze by the engine box. Attach are photos of the final result. I made the plywood frames and Holly of Holly's Custom Canvas and Upholstery, Mooresville, IN did a great job on the vin...

Re: Draining oil on a 283F

To put a conclusion on this thread, here is what I ended up doing: I purchased an oil change assembly from Peter Henkel, Inc. IMG_2043.JPG I had to use new copper tubing as the provided tubing was clearly shaped for another boat type. It was readily available 1/2" soft utility copper tube. The bigge...

Folding Helm Seats

The seats on my '64 Cutlass were shot, interior metal rusted out. (See the attached photos) So I discarded them after, fortunately, keeping the hardware. I can't find suitable replacements. I am now thinking that it would not be too difficult to duplicate them, if I had their dimensions. Does any on...

Re: Draining oil on a 283F

Jim G: The boat is in winter storage now, but I'll double check when I'm next there. I'm fairly confident that I don't have such a tube. If the tube is connected to the drain plug it would be hard to miss when I changed the oil. Maybe it is on only certain model years. Mine is a 1964. It would be mo...

Re: Draining oil on a 283F

I'll give that a try. My impression was that the tube was flattened to fit the exhaust header, but I'll look more closely. Thanks for the suggestion.

Draining oil on a 283F

I've got a couple of problems that makes oil draining difficult. First, the dip stick tube is flatten between the block and the exhaust header so an oil pump tube will not fit down. Fumoto makes a nifty drain cock that receives a tube, but they don't make one that will fit my drain. It is 7/8" dia. ...
