Re: New Officers

To Our Officers
Thanks for the dedication and hard work you all put into our club. I know that the raise this year was not much for the hours you all put in. Hope to see all of you in Florida in March.

Re: Steering Wheel Removal

John, See if this will help you. I restored all my wheels so far and they have come out great. I did learn a little more on my latest restoration. I have always used a rattle can spray paint but my Capri I did all the repair work and I took it to my local body shop and had them put some new paint th...

Re: Leaking reverse gear

I have enclosed a couple of pictures of this process. First remove your shift linkage and clean the shaft ends up so they are smooth. It is better to clean the shafts up before removing the seals so you don't get it all down in the transmission. After cleaning and making sure the shaft is smooth fro...

Dave,
See if this helps you. I documented the wiring when I restored my 48 17' deluxe a few years ago.
Restoration Supply will have the black asphalt laden cloth braided wire loom.

Re: Compression Test

I have a couple of KFL engines and the first one had a problem smoking but I think it was due to setting up and just needed to be run. I think it had a ring stuck. I have enclosed a chart of the engine that was smoking on the top which the compression does not look bad but I never did a leakdown on ...

vacuum carburetor synchronizer

Any information out here on the use of a vacuum carburetor synchronizer to set the zenith updraft carburetors on a KFL? I have used on bikes before and just wondering the proper use on these types of carburetors to get them synchronized correctly.

I have never seen silver hidem but you will find the silver piping as shown in the photo of my 57 Capri. You can also find the same information on the Buzz that shows a chart with the upholstery samples of what was offered.

Re: MCL Baulky At Slow Speeds

This is a very interesting topic and surprised that more people have not chimed in. I have a KFL that has been completely rebuilt even the distributor and carbs and I just cannot get it to idle smooth. I know others have had our same problem and would love to hear from them. My engine runs good 1000...

Low Headroom Hoist

Anyone have a preference and positive results for a low headroom (13" between hooks) manual chain hoist in a 1ton -1-1/2ton at reasonable price. There are a lot of cheap hoist out there but most don't have reviews on them. I have been looking at a CM 2256 2000lb to pull my engines in and out. I used...

Thanks everyone! I purchased one from Deep Blue Yacht Supply today here in Florida. I will make the tool this weekend and get ready to install first of the week when it arrives. FYI My strut has no setscrew like my earlier model 1948 did. I will install and let cool and see how it fits but I am sure...

Is the Johnson Duramax Cutless Bearing - Navel Brass still the correct mfg and material? They also make a new non metallic cutless bearing by Johnson. Wonder which would be better?

Cutlass Bearings

Anything new out there as far as cutlass bearings? I have read the thread on Cutlass Bearings and find a lot of new Naval stuff that sounds good but wondering if anyone has recommendations. I need to install a 1"ID x 1-1/4OD x 4". I guess the old hacksaw trick is still the best??

I am reaching out to anyone that has ever seen a folding top for a 19' Capri. I am wanting to build one and want to know if anyone has one I could copy. I have enclosed a photo of one that was an option in 55-56 and they had it in 56-57. The bottom photo shows the Capri top. Thanks Pete 1957 folding...

I have been searching for the Raybelle flooring for a while and the bottom line is that there is nothing out there really close when you look at the original. The Forbo Marmoleum Striato is not the product. I talked to Forbo along with some other manufacturers and all our runs were very small and no...

A little mishap

Just like getting blood and guts in your new fishing boat, I put the first ding in the spray rail. I am wondering what is the perferred method of fixing this. Since it is more surface is it a filler?
