Re: U22 Blower Installation

I'll be there with a '56 wagemaker runabout on a '56 gator trailer. Land display this year with the restored trailer, displayed in the water last year and did well. See you there-

U22 Blower Installation

Hi, I have a 1951 U22 with 5 vents; one from the bow light into a galvanized sheet metal tube to the bilge, two in the topsides (one port, one starboard) chrome vent had openings forward and brought air into the sidewalls between planks and ceiling boards. There was a piece of thin masonite behind t...

Re: Cushion Size U22

Maritime, My aft bench has a little taper to it as well. The front edge is 63-3/4" and the rear edge where the cleat is that the seat back rests against is 60-7/8". I may need to taper the side cushions out to fill the 1-3/8" + on either side. Or just make them square as you suggest and wedge them i...

Re: Cushion Size U22

yes, that makes the most sense. My hull card also says 3 forward and 3 aft. I see a lot of the aft cushions hanging over the 2-1/2" tall x 63-3/4" wide seat edge board. Although when you look at the original ads, the cushions are clearly behind the board to keep them on the bench.

Re: Cushion Size U22

If anyone with a U22 that is accessible could help with measurements it would really help. For the center cushions, rectangle, I believe they should be approx 18" deep and 20" wide x 3" thick. Then the side cushions would start the same and flare out for the front edge of the aft bench and in for th...

Cushion Size U22

Hi, My hull card for a 1951 U22 states that the boat came with 6 cushions, 3 forward, 3 aft. The previous owner had new cushions made at some point, 3 odd sizes forward with the port and starboard being trapezoid shaped and two longer-rectangular aft instead of the 3. My question is what were the or...

Mine is currently out and I just measured it for a replacement. I have a 1951 U22. 15.75" O.D. Dia. as pictured. Please reply with the contact info for the new sticks. I have a dowel rod. Maybe we can get a deal on two !

Re: Cerulern Blue vinyl

Mellohide Marine is about $15 yd and less when you go over 10 yds. Order a sample from A1 foam & upholstery or similar. Sky Blue looks pretty close. Heidi is another brand that has samples available.

Green Vinyl

Hi, I'm working on a 1951 U-22. I found 2 pieces of the original upholstery inside the stern seat back that covered the two hanger holes from the inside. The grayer blue in the center of the picture is a pretty good match for the original tolex blue found covering these holes. While I know that this...

temperature gauge removal U22

Hi, I am removing all gauges and switches from a 1951 U22 as part of my restoration process. The last two items to remove are the "T" handle choke and the temperature gauge. I found a post that states to remove the choke I need to remove the entire T handle and cable assembly. I assume that I just p...

Re: Floor board removal

Hi Jim, Yes, I have the lower board like your gray board in the picture. It is actually the rear of the seat box and is stained and varnished. It looks like you have cut out the middle on yours. Are you doing a walk through with two separate seat cushions? My seat back cushions constitute the upper ...

Thanks for the reply. I have seen a few with added shelves or compartments. Maybe that's a good way to tie them back to the sides and floor boards.

Re: Floor board removal - seat frame joint

Hi, I have recently acquired a U22 and started removing the floor carpet, floor board in front of the front seat and kick board. I saw Jim's comment above not to try to remove the seat back frames. I can see the slight wobble where the top of the seat back joins the covering board and the resulting ...
