Re: KL Won’t Get Over 1500rpm under load?

Can use the screw or bolt. I was told the flat plate at the base of the carb with the slot is a leftover vestige from old car days when a linkage attached to the distributor and the driver could manually advance or retard the timing under way. Could also try tapping the carb with a rubber mallet. No...

Re: KL Won’t Get Over 1500rpm under load?

Start with the carburetor. Incorrect float level (too low) can limit the amount of fuel. Also, if it has been rebuilt, the needle valve may not be the original style requiring a different float setting than Zenith specs call for or improper needle valve gasket. I had a needle valve in my carburetor ...

Re: Translucent banjo steering wheel

I have used Quality Restorations out of San Diego for several steering wheels. The work Dennis Crooks does is phenomenal. He's not cheap, but once I received them I realized it was worth every penny. He recasts the steering wheel using your original wire frame. In my case, two 1947-48 Ford steering ...

Re: Blond deck stain

If you are a Danenberg devotee he recommends a "recipe" of 8 parts natural filler stain with 1 part Minwax Golden Oak.

Contact Jim at Fine Wood Boats, inc in Three Lakes 815-344-9663

Unless you know the NAPA Echlin part numbers specifically it's a real struggle getting a car parts store to help, which I learned early on. Easier to talk to someone who knows what your looking for and may even have NOS

Try this - one forward and one back facing - :? Got to hand it to creativity/ingenuity. http://antiqueboatamerica.com/ab_list_boatNew.asp?Left=&Type=ViewBoat&BoatId=36982 There is a center mounted scoop just ahead of the windshield on the bow of the continentals around this time - hard to see in the...

Re: Engine bogs down past 2,100 RPMS

Initially your post indicated timing had been checked and was "spot on"- easy enough to do on an MCL as there is a timing mark. So how was it off? Spark advance not working properly?

Re: Replacement Fuel Tank

Does an Occasional Tank of Premium Help Keep a Car's Motor Clean? As strange as this question sounds, this is a common and long-standing practice among many motorists who consider an occasional tank of premium a special treatment that will help their engines last longer. The basis for this assumptio...

Re: Capri Spotlight

I noticed that this topic received no responses and I am in the same boat! I have new to me 1952 23' Holiday with a large Iva-Lite installed on the deck. However, the hull card indicates that the original light was a KM-32. Having contacted Iva-Lite they told me this is not an Iva-Light designation....

Anyone Misplaced Their Rudder?

Rudder Pic 1.JPG Found this in the bottom of a 1953 18' Riviera I am restoring. The original rudder log was intact in the boat and the original rudder was lying inside the boat - although quite bent. Lying next to it was this rudder, with log and all. Stripped it of layers of bottom paint to see if...
