Model B elbow
Replacing the exhaust elbow on a 1940 Model B. Having a machine shop remove the water fitting (shown in picture) from a used elbow that I bought. I will need to replace the fitting. Is that some kind of a compression fitting that will squeeze the copper tube? Anyone know where I can get that fitting?

Re: Oil pressure gauge connection
From what I've seen in other pictures, it may connect right below where the generator mounts?

Oil pressure gauge connection
I am not sure where a mechanical oil pressure gauge would connect to my 1940 Model B engine. There are two screws in the middle of the block (picture). The one on top looks like it would open to a water connection? Maybe the bottom screw just above the oil pan?

Re: Model B distributor
Well that's good news! Now can I still get points, rotor, etc for it? Or a Pertronix ignition?

Model B distributor
I believe a previous owner put an incorrect distributor on my Model B (also wrong carburetor which I have changed). Wondering if I can keep this distributor or am I better off buying a rebuilt one. The Auto-lite number on mine is IGB4096B. From what I have found, it should be IGW4149A? Sticking with...

Re: Model B head gasket
Ok I'm confused. Should I not use the steel gasket with copper inserts?

Re: Model B head gasket
Just didn't know if copper is that much better. I'm a newby at this. I'll use the new gasket. Probably another silly question but would I use gasket cement on the head gasket? Sorry I'm learning as I go.

Model B head gasket
Wondering if I am better off cleaning up and using the old copper head gasket or replacing with the new steel gasket I have purchased?

Re: Model B rebuild questions
Hmm...the only numbers I can find stamped on the block are 27158 which is on the side behind where the generator mounts and also on the flywheel end near the head gasket. The other stamp is 407624 1XB which is located on the same side in the middle near the head gasket . (If you open the pictures th...

Re: Model B rebuild questions
Thank you for your responses. It sounds like my engine will have the babbit bearings. Hopefully they will not need to be replaced. The cylinders look good and compression was 110 and up in all 4 cylinders before I took it apart. I was only going to hone and re-ring. I guess I should sleeve and re-ri...

Model B rebuild questions
I am doing a total rebuild on a 1940 Model B engine. Engine #3168. This is my first time and have several initial questions: 1. Is there an engine manual available which will include all specs? 2. Are there comparable push rod bearings that I can get as replacements? 3. Drive shaft bearings? I don't...
