Re: Refinishing 18' 1960 Continental.
Thanks everyone. Pepe was thrilled to see his boat refinished. It exceeded his expectations, he loved it. I was super proud to have his approval. I gave him the honor of the first drive. After all it may be my boat but it will always be his.

Re: Problem varnishing over deck seams
Came do to the root of my problem another novice lesson learned. I ordered the wrong version of boat life life caulk. The tube looks identical. But I ordered boatlife 1170 when I needed to get boatlife 1033. 1170 is polyurethane/silicone caulk. Live and you learn. So I just started to remove the sea...

Give the seams themselves a light sanding? I have red scotch bright and some various grits of sand paper. What would you recommend?

Problem varnishing over deck seams
We are applying the first of three final coats of varnish on the deck. The varnish seems to puddle up in the deck seams. Any advice would be appreciated. Epifanes high gloss clear varnish. Full strength not thinned. Seams are the one part boat life.

Re: Refinishing 18' 1960 Continental.
Wife and I stained the Continental yesterday. Took approximately 6 hours. We both are super happy with the color. My wife's grandfather Pepe is really excited, told me that people (his kids and friends have been following my progress via Facebook) are telling him he gave the boat to the right person...

Re: Refinishing 18' 1960 Continental.
Thank you for your reply. I have been doing a ton of research and reading. What I'm finding with stain, sealer and varnish is what I found when I purchased my welder. Buy quality but everyone likes a different brand. I haven't come across anything that says it isn't compatible. It seems a lot of fol...

Re: Complete & Proper way to refinish 62 Continental Runabou
So I wasn't able to take photos today. But I was able to talk to Pepe about the boat over dinner. He has owned the boat since 1972-1973. He got the boat from a friend who worked at a century dealership. The first owner traded it into the dealer to buy a new century fiberglass boat. The guy got $1200...

Thanks for thr reply Joanroy. I was in the middle of the grocery store when he called me. It was the last thing I ever expected.
