Re: 2017 Board of Directors Election - Biographies of Nomine

While I did not withdraw my expression of interest in serving, I non the less congratulate the committee on its selection in reaching out to a younger member of the boating community...An act which is long overdue. Hopefully he can bring more younger people into the fold.

Re: Very Sad News:

Jim: As close as I thought Bill and I were, he never let on to me there were "other editors" for The Brass Bell. It was obvious that there were contributors although as I know from my own experience and to hear Bill tell it, it was sometime like pulling teeth to meet deadlines. All that aside, I am ...

Re: Very Sad News:

Bill Baldwin was an exceptionally talented individual. As Jim pointed out he was an accomplished science fiction writer but very modest, referring to his days with Xerox by saying, "I was just a simple programer." Although he lived in Dallas I think Lake Chatauqua was really home to him. As he told ...

Duplex Oil cans

Contact Jim Hastings. The cans are not your standard one gallon size. Jim had all the dimensions and labeling and was going to reproduce them but nobody seemed to be in need of the 1000 that were required for a minimum order. I loaned an original to Terry Fiest for Single Malt. It may still be in th...

New Chris Craft

I personally thought Riviera but Bill Baldwin's group voted for Constellation after I addressed them.

Y'all see the references to the new 36' in the current Boating magazine and to the new 32' in the current Boat US magazine...Good work Kirsten !

It was a great weekend. Silver Bullet runs like a scalded dog and 22' Corsair rides like a dream...and then there is the new 36' Corsair with every imaginable option. It is always good to be with Steve and Stephen but a plus to be there with Don and Patti. As Don says she is a sweetheart...Perhaps m...

16 foot boats

As Al Benton points out I had a 16' Riviera. I was thrilled at the time to read in Bob Speltz Real Runabouts that she was "rare" and then took her to one of the early Mt. Dora shows when they were held over at Sanford, Fl and found more 16' Rivieras than any other model. Rare ??? We figured the 16' ...

Chris Craft Antique Boat Club Decals and history

Go to the archives and look for the Winter 2000 (I'm pretty sure of the date) Millenium issue. I contained a capsulized history of the club up to that time..

Chris Craft Antique Boat Club decals

The decals like the ones found on the windshield of your boat were made by the company for the club in the 1970's before I inherited it from Howard Hallas. When I was asked by Jim Irwin and Gene Vincent ( whom I thought were elected by the club members but were in fact appointed by Chris Craft Indus...

West Marine Poster/19 Ft Red & White Racer

While at West Marine this morning I noticed a poster, I'd never seen althought the salesman said the poster had been there fro some time. It is a 19' Chris Craft ( 1946/'47) Red & White racer with what looks like a Lake Tahoe background and California registration CF 4382 BM. Looks like Lipstick but...

Lake Rabun is a fun place...Back in the '80s my little 16'Riv. had her maiden voyage there after restoration...For outsiders, they really gave us a friendly welcome...Just don't mention it if you are a Gator, the place is full of Dogs. The Lake Rabun Inn is a great place, but be sure and get the bri...

Help Identifying a boat.

Forgot to say that while the little Riv was cute, a 16 ft mahogany boat with a 60 hp Hercules Model B engine was grossly underpowered and wouldn't get up on a plane with more than one person in it.

Help identifying a runabout

Al: Reminds me of when I had a 16' Riviera. Bob Speltz book said it was "rare" but when I went to boat shows there more 16s than the others. We figured it was small enuff to be left in the garage or get tucked in the corner of a warehouse and be saved.

Bill:

I''ll bet the reason you haven't heard much on tags is that you are way over the heads of many of us. For instance, I still can't figure out how to connect a tag to my laptop or vice versa and I have no idea what a cricket is or how to use it.

Perhaps you will report your findings to the Mariners Museum, in the event corrections can be made if there is ever a reprint of Jerry's book.

Meantime I wonder if there is a way for Bill Basler to report them in the archives.

I will print your findings and insert them in my book.
