Well, fiberglass bottoms - lots of opinions. I am just replacing the bottom on my BB, as there is some softness present and general circumstances suggest it is the time to do it, though it is nowhere near failure. The bottom is fiberglass covered, and to the best of my knowledge was installed somewh...

I have a 1961 21' Continental about to get underway, it has been waiting for 2 years since purchase. That is about all I can stand, I keep thinking about how cool that boat will be when it is back on the water. The Mullins is slowly proceeding, as is the Feathercraft. I don't like the idea of accumu...

I wasn't there so I can't make specific comments, but I know that most show organizers try to make sure that as many boats are on display during posted show hours as possible. They are typically quite responsive to the desire of most visitors to actually see the boats. In our case in athe Okanagan C...

Hi Tim - I hope it doesn't turn out to be as major an issue as blow-by usually portends, but you'll figure it out soon enough. If it is blow by, at least you can keep using your boat through the season and repair it over the winter.

Hope to see you again this summer!

I have two CC's with this kind of connection - a '61 Continental and a '65 Sea Skiff. I am not near either boat but will be tomorow - I can see what it is then. Both the units are in place and I remmeber googling them, but I just can't remember the name now. The units in my boats are period correct ...

Re: Brass Bell ads

January 2012 I paid to have my Trading Dock ad placed in the Brass Bell but since it has not been published, it hasn't run but my money wasn't refunded nor was I notified that my ad wouldn't be run. The club should not accept money for services not rendered but keep the money or at least extend the...

No different, No response. Also I find the day-glo orange high lighted names very un "team" like. Very egotistical. I have never had registration numbers applied to any of my old boats, and likely never will. I have used them all over the US and in Western Canada and have never been stopped. I can add that McNeilly is not cheap, but he is very good and he stands by his work. He was up-front with me at the start and I highly appreciated that.

Good luck getting the work done, by whoever you end up choosing.

Thanks for the support Frank, we really appreciate it. It is a good time to correct an incorrect impression contained in RGaddow's post - that the directors were self appointed. In fact Bill Basler appointed Ayers, Benton and Vogt, prior to resigning himself. I was asked to join roughly a month late...

I would recommend Jim McNeilly of McNeilly's Marine Service. Jim is an older guy and has been working on these things for close to 50 years. He rebuilt my Scripps for me and does great work. He also specializes in CC transmissions. His shop is on Lake Union and I would recommend giving him a call.

locating HIN on '50's 17' Cavalier

A new member has just joined our local ACBS chapter, and he has a 17' CC Cavalier, thought to be around a 1957. Unfortunately, he has not been able to locate the HIN. There are no tags or plates in the engine box, and he is not sure where else to look. The boat appears mostly original but the engine...

I think it is your boat and you should name it what you like - chances are the new owner of your current boat will want to rename it anyway, so why not? I think it's a nice name and can see why you'd keep it.

Can't wait to see the pictures! Many choices to make in these projects, and as long as you are happy with the outcome, whatever choice you make is the right one.

I own a far more common and pedestrian Skiff than yours and just love it. Congrats on your project.
