In answering my own question ....no, not made by Uniflite, but prior a design by Heritage and bought by CC, as to history, I assume they were made in Florida. Known as the West Indies 36 http://www.westindies36.com/
I have had 2 trawlers and this looks to be a very good design.

Keep in mind we are merely a type club looking to attract a subset of the hobby. We don't need to compete with "The center of the wood-motorboat universe: Woody Boater" for the size of our readership/membership. From the numbers I have seen recently from both sides that would be quite a feat. In fa...

For my 2 cents. Never will a person receive so many negative comments as he will when suggesting an on-line version of a much beloved printed hard copy of their avocation. But allow me to explain the reasoning that is being repeated across the country. First is speed, then cost, plus the ability to ...

I have found an air sanding board to be the best, I have had also a Porter Cable oscillaing rotary sander that has lasted me for almost 20 years. MAY I ADD. USE A VERY GOOD BREATHING DEVICE , I found out the hard way. :( I have not found a good stripper for varnish lately, anybody know of one beside...

Metal Boat Society
Interesting group, has members from all over the world and their knowledge base appears to be... well, knowledgeable.
They have their annual meeting in Anacortes, this August. I'll probably go.

If you do not have it, you can order the hull card for your boat from Mariner's Museum. It will give you the color.

Should you need a tow in, dern nice location to pull from
Re: On water towing.
Once a tow line is attached by the tower's boat to the towee's boat, the tower is responsible. If I was towing your boat I would demand a bridle.

Gary, I do not believe I have seen a factory bow eye on the deluxe, a buddy has a 19' '42 and has a cradle trailer with NO winch, to me is much easier retrieving a boat. I have seen after market bow eyes, but I would only recommend using them for a safety tie down to the trailer....but not tight so ...

No pictures....but you can google boat towing bridle. For a 17 foot wood boat, have a strap that completely goes around the boat and you are pulling the boat by the stern. You can use the bow chocks only to hold the bridle in position. If you are looking for a trailer I do have one that floats the b...

Sandusky paint offer Chris Craft and Lyman paints. Their yellow is called LURE YELLOW, I have also used their 2260 Clear Sealer and was EXTREMELY impressed with drying time, buildup and more. It does need a UV varnish over it for final coats. I have also used their varnish that was in a can over 5 y...

Allow me to add my 1 and a half cents worth so we have an even nickle.......I have had 4 of these boats and the only ones that kept their value were repowered with as close as the original engine as possible.
The mid 50's Sportsmen are the most common CC out there and the best source for repowering.

Hi Dale, The Rendezvous is in Port Orchard WA, across Puget Sound from Seattle. http://www.chriscraftrendezvous.com/ My wife and I lived in Seattle area for 15 plus years then moved further north to Bellingham, closer to the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands and had from 32-42 ft trawlers. We moved...
