Dave, sounds like you were OVERHEATED in Powhatan 20 years ago too!
Did you live around here?
Do, of course, check the impeller right off...but if she did not overheat on the restart...doubt that is the main cause....

Re: 1959 CC Ski 18'
I wish someone in the know would verify the thing that I heard years ago about single gauge flathead fords.... i.e. that the single gauge read temp on one manifold and if the other overheated it would simply spike the gauge all the way over to hot??? May not be the case but would make sense given th...

Jim G's info reminds one of the setup on the old ford flatheads.....one gauge, two sensors, but instead of a red light I think those spiked to hot side if that manifold overheated...gauge read for only the other side....?

why not launch if for a season and see if she tightens up that miniscule bit? I understand your concern if you are at the end of a long restoration and don't want to do anything less that perfect pre launch...but I would Go Boating! But hey, that is my answer for everything!

That EVA product would seem to be a good retro technology for these applications. ...

You know in all my years of working on boats, I never considered this "reboxing" of parts scam? Those aftermarket guys must be shady characters to do that stuff. How prevalent do we think that is?
