Re: Spining Screws

ok, so last resort time: I have actually shrunken down the pickup end of a BIG and POWERFUL standard shop vac ….get on down to 1/4 in pickup....and you can get a lot of those to come up enough to get a tack pulled under the lip of the head.

Re: Different varnishes on same boat?

Well I have experience with both, prefer Epifanes, but I don't see that mixing two such similar finish products should matter....if you plan to do two coats of Epi over a weekend....I would not sand much at all between.....get the chemical bond....you had best wait for some of the trailer queen crew...

Re: Steering box

this is old automotive parts.....tighten the adjuster and pack it with grease or lube and it will help...but new sector and worm would be best and pretty easy to do. It will make for a big improvement. John in Va.

Re: Bad coil?

I am telling you guys...those resistors in or around the coil can, when failed, seem like any number of seemingly unrelated problems. Their whole purpose is to keep from overloading the points at max electrical delivery at while cranking....or at least that is the theory...??????.real gremlins...and...

Re: Bad coil?

I can't specify a coil...but if that thing is converted as you mention...maybe you need a coil resistor if using an old style 12v coil....some coils have that built in...but others require the seperate ceramic and wire resistor...not having that working right causes wierd problems usually noticable ...

Re: New CCABC member, first time question

all this started with the starter. The hand crank starter...back in the day.....most people are right handed....hence they have most strength when cranking clockwise at the front of the engine.
just a tidbit thought...
