I don't think there will be much difference. The 5200 between the layers will just reduce the moisture getting to the inner layer. That 300# figure is quite optimistic, at 8lbs per gallon that would be about 37 gallons of water soaked up.

I imagine a 12v blower will just turn a little slower on 6v. I don't know about any excess current draw. That Ebay blower would probably be fine w/ a little re-wire but it might be a little wonky to fashion to one of the vent tubes since you probably don't want to cut a hole in your hullside.

Hi Michael,
It could be a valve adjustment or sticky valves. At any rate, I would have to wonder how long it has been running like that possibly burning those valves that may not be closing completly.

Like Jim, I'm wondering the age of the broken mounts. From Doug's post this sounds like it's a common occurance. There must be a reason for breaking a number of mounts (excessive misalinment, severe use)?

I have a pair of K's still living on 6 volts just fine. If you keep your charging and starting systems in good working order 6 volts is quite sufficient. For me the only drawback is the problem w/ the 12 volt stuff you might want to use. Converting to 12 volt is pretty easy. The biggest expense is g...

Hi, Welcome to the Boat Buzz :D . I know I am speaking for many of us on this, if you can post some pictures of the problem we can get a better handle on it. If this is a showboat, replacement would probably be in order. If she's a user boat, filling or screwing or a combination of both might be fin...

I had a mooring cover made for my 28' cruiser out of Sunbrella and it seems to breathe just fine. I picked a light oyster color so it doesn't have too much heat buildup.

The replacement engine does appear to be flywheel fwd. If Ali's toasted engine was fwd also it should drop right in. You end up dealing w/ engine height and angle changing from fwd to aft flywheel. Which isn't worth the headaches.

I have my 1956 28' Sedan w/ Flybridge and I find it quite easy to get to the foredeck thru the hatch easier than the catwalks also. Another difference is that an Express has less headroom down below. Mine has the twin K's which push her along fast enough and at slower speeds they are quite efficient...

I can see your fears of back-siphoning. If you keep your bilge reasonably clean the siphon break won't plug. I have never seen or met anyone w/ first hand experience of a boat sinking because of this. It sounds like it would have to be a "perfect storm scenario" for one of these to sink your boat. J...

Hi Craig,
You really can't blame the self-bailer for sinkings. You have to periodically lift off the upper bend and make sure they are clear. It's a maintenance issue, the bottom of your boat will sink your boat if you don't maintain it  .
