Re: Generator on Model K
A couple of years ago my generator on my K got so hot you could fry an egg on it. Smoked and smelled nasty too. I was grateful nothing caught on fire. I took the generator in for a complete rebuild and has been fine since. Mike Murley in Fair Haven Mi. rebuilt it.

Steve,
I see a boat that's close to finished but no engine. Did your boat get finished yet?

Hi Jim, The water isn't hard here yet, so if you want to test drive it this weekend, just let me know! I will help you winterize the motor when we are done, as I need to learn how to do that for my boat next fall. Steve Anderson in St Clair Shores. Hello Steve, No test rides for me this time of the...

Re: Carter fuel pump rebuild question
Jim, Should I be using this retaining clip? The new arm pin has a groove in the center for it but it just does not seem like it retains well. The original pin did not have a groove or a retainer clip. The original pin is shown and the new retainer clip is on the screwdriver handle. I neglected to se...

Re: Carter fuel pump rebuild question
This 1961 fuel pump looks like it never had any paint. Is no paint correct for that vintage?

Re: Carter fuel pump rebuild question
I got the kit from Robert Henkel @CC parts.com.
I have the pins springs and valves but not the domed piece circled with the holes in it shown in my photo. The guy reassembles his without those pieces.

Carter fuel pump rebuild question
Guys, at minute 2:52 this guy says do not reuse these pieces. I didn't get any in my kit so is it correct to toss them and just go without?

Troy, I don't know why but I seem to have issues with passwords here. I do write them down so I don't forget but still seem to get locked out. When asking for a password reset it can take weeks to hear back. What's up with the delay on resets? You haven't heard from me lately because I've been locke...

Re: How to include pic in post?
Heya, I've been away for several years. I posted a new topic and tried to include a picture. I went to the "Attachments" tab and uploaded a file. "Status" went to a full green bar. I don't seem to have any options to get it into the post. I've checked my profile, and the board permissions. Everythi...

Re: Casting number for 1930 model 100 strut
I do need to drill a new hole in the keel although I have one shaft log and hopefully that one is correct.
I have another photo of a strut off John K's model 100 although no casting number on it.

Is it possible to use a different strut other than what was originally on the boat? This boat is getting new stringers and a 283 engine.

Re: Casting number for 1930 model 100 strut
I may be if the two struts I have are not correct. I have 700009 and 1166 maybe (hard to see)
I have access to another model 100 same boat, that strut has a different shape and size. I'm not able to get a casting number yet.

Your image is probably over the limit size. Reduce the size a lot(under 1MB) and try again.

Thanks guys, I'll have to decide if I want to keep the patina or go with NOS plates and stainless fasteners.
