Don, Cannot remember where I read it - think it was a vanishing book - anyhow, ours lives in semi-salt water and after use I rinse it with fresh water and then hit the varnished wood with Murphy's Oil Soap in the spray bottle and wipe it dry. It has been working good for two years and the vanish are...

our boat was delivered 12/1960 but is a 1961 model. The front berth is stock from what I was told and the build sheet has it as green.

Very nice. What will you finish it with? I would love to put the teak back on mine but it is way too much work - plus I don't have a flat front deck.

10 Best Places to Live & Boat

How about a diversion? Boating Magazine just hit my mailbox and inside had the 10 best places to live & boat. I found it very interesting and also odd how some places were missed. Now I know how some look at us on the left coast and more so from the S.F. Bay Area - but Boating Mag picked two left co...

I've been thinking and shopping for the same. NEMA is going to be a bit pricey and hard to find the sensors / senders to make it work. There is another bus system that you can use but I could not find anything under $2K to cover my twins in a 1960 Connie. I've put it on the back burner for the time ...

while many have posted some good ideas, I thought of a article I read about a boat that burned to the water line at the dock and the guy went to jail - they thought he did it for insurance money. The pump jammed and overheated the wire that ran through a locker that had varnish and other items... th...

In either case, the tell tale sign would be the generator(s) not producing any charging current. If so, then repolarize based on your system.

I remember the 80's it was muscle cars and cruising. That soon came to an end when the powers that be shut down cruising and California smog check made life hard. These are what I gave up for the big cruiser. http://s3.postimage.org/3c7c00w4/garage.jpg Even after spending this weekend sanding so I c...

Scanned from negatives, not from photos, no touch-ups. The 44 photos are from the estate of Jon M Riley, Assistant Fire Chief, City of Vallejo. His son gave me the photos. Back of the photos are dated Aug 1985. https://picasaweb.google.com/113615358580311562427/Tahoe1985# Enjoy, Mike http://s4.posti...

Tahoe Boat Show from 1985

I was given a couple dozen photos from the 1985 Tahoe Boat Show. My question is gauging the interest of fellow members in viewing these old photos? If so, I'll post them to Picasa for your viewing pleasure. If not, I'll dedicate the time to sanding and varnishing  in place of scanning and posti...

I find it confusing as I had found instruction telling me two different ways for the same regulator/generator. It all comes down to if it is an A or B circuit - grounded through the regulator or internal to the generator. Some say to polarize the Delco one way and the Autolite the other... some say ...

Generators & regulators

Well I think I solved two of my problems with the generator charging system on our 1960 Connie. One was the peaking at 15.2V while cruising along for a few hours at 3K RPM. The amp gauge was jumping from 0-20 rapidly on one engine and fluttering on the other. Needless to say it was hard on batteries...
