Mike, I had a fellow come in the shop last week with his disassembled steering gear. It had the braising just like yours. the buoys. I have restored three of the

Shorten the cable. I usually cut at least 6' off those
20' cables. Careful with the clamp pressure.

The deck planking is the same as hull sides.
I have another one coming into the shop in a few
weeks. I haven't seen the boat yet, so it will be

To all, I have had three 17' deluxe's in the shop over the years. My first boat was a 17' deluxe. In all three cases the boats were planked in Honduras, not Philippine. Gele, Your instrument panel is correct. I restored a model 199 about 20 years ago. I sent to panel out to Pat Powell at the time, according to him and the way he restored it, it had a black krinkle finish. Also had silver prewar logo under the tach. I will try to dig up a picture. Way before digital...

The correct size for your boat is the 26" version.

Jim,
I haven't seen that flooring, but you can get the
gold vinyl. Check out Enduratex.com, their
Jet stream metallic vinyl. We are using the bonanza
gold on a cobra in the shop.

Gord, Yes, one hole is for the choke, see pic of my dash. Instrument and nav switch above steering column, key switch and starter button. That's all that should be there, there could be a hole for an Iva-lite, all lot of those where installed. I don't think chris craft installed bilge pumps in 1947....
