New Hampshire Boat Title/Registration Research

If it doesn't pertain to metal, wood, wire or fabric—but it is about vintage Chris-Crafts, ask your question or give your advice here.

New Hampshire Boat Title/Registration Research

Post by Mark Christensen » Wed Mar 08, 2017 2:56 pm

I'm digging to find the ownership history of my boat. I have the hull number. Here is the rundown so far:

1961 24' Chris Craft Sportsman
Hull Number: CUA-24-0007C
Hull Card says boat was originally delivered to Chicago, IL
- Title Search in North Carolina (where I bought the boat) showed me the owner before me purchased the boat in 1992
- The boat was previously on Lake Winnepesaukee, NH. New Hampshire title records are not publicly available so they will not let me do a registration or title search on the boat. Does anybody know a loophole around this? I've hit a dead end at this point.

Much appreciated!

Ask them how to submit a request under the freedom of information act.

That's brilliant. Not sure if it will work, but I'll definitely try! It says it can't force them to do research. I wonder if they'll just give me a dump of all boat registration information they have over the years. It'd probably be easier if they just looked up the hull number. :)

You could contact someone in the New Hampshire club and see if the previous owner was a member.

Good luck !

I have ACBS directories back to 1986 if you want to stop by and search them.

Jim,
Would you consider looking in one of the pre 1992 directories under Alphabetical Boat Builder Listings - Chris Craft - 1961 - Sportsman, and see if any of them are located in New Hampshire? I'll buy you a beer.... :)
