Here is a picture that I took of the Commerative Statue of Chris Smith and Gar Wood alongside the St. Clair River in Algonac, MI. The statue is life size and is located outside of the Algonac Historical Museum.

laclede, have you ever thought of starting a blog sit for yourself. I look at this almost everyday and about half does not have anything to do with what I believe this forum and post is about. It's more like your personal site. The pictures above a great but no real description of who or where they are so then it's then really not interesting. A blog site is more what you need then you can put everything and anything on there. Just a thought.

+1 on that. Let the experiment end for all of us (as previously stated by Laclede). Don't confuse the activity on this thread as interest. Like many of us, I check out all new posts. That doesn't mean I have an interest in what I see. I find it impossible to believe our moderator allows this to continue. Sorry to be so abrupt but this is just wrong. A blog site makes a lot of sense.maritimeclassics wrote:laclede, have you ever thought of starting a blog sit for yourself. +2.
We have gone over this before and those who support this type of posting say that it is very popular as shown by the number of posts and hits. Most of the posts are by the author himself. Some of the materials are viable but most is unexplained, redundant and of a personal nature.

I've enjoyed this thread. If I didn't, I wouldn't waste time looking at it. JF

Re: Tango Uniform
I follow about 5 different threads here regularly. While I would agree that some of the postings aren't particularly relevant the only thing that I found actually objectionable were the references to a certain infamous person. Those references have all been retracted. I really have enjoyed the info on the restoration of the '41 Cruiser on this thread.

Re: .
Didn't I read recently that the server was full and needed to be expanded? Is this thread part of the problem?

I see you are signed up to go to the Rendevouz in Port Orchard. We will be there as well. Maranee will be on the end with us next to her, Then you will be next to us giving you a chance to see a couple of boats similar to yours.

So good to hear that you're going to Port Orchard. Wish I could be there to see it in person but that's not in the cards this year. Hope you all have a really good time.

Laclede,
It looks like you got your period correct furnishings down pretty well! Love to see some daytime pictures of the interior! Looks like the Rondezvous was a terrific time. It looked to me like High Seas might have been right behind your boat? And the pictures of At Last don't begin to do it justice. I've seen their video of the restoration and it's fantastic. What kind of response to your boat have you been getting? Hope you all had a great time!

Re: .
One of the features of the Port Orchard CC Rondezvous that I particularly like is that folks are invited to step aboard the boats. That rarely happens at the shows here in Southeast Michigan. I think all shows should do that and also have boat rides available. I think that is one of the best ways to help grow the hobby.
Those restoration photos are one of the things that I spend a lot of time looking at when I'm at a show. And of course it's the primary topic when I talk with owners. One of things that I have observed is that a far smaller percentage of Cruiser Owners have done the restoration work themselves on their boats than other owners. But of those that do work on their own boats they have spent much more time on their boats than other owners.

That is indeed sad and a profound loss for the Pacific Northwest Classic boating world. Very sorry for your loss. You said he worked on your boat up until last month. How close to being finished are you? I hope all is well with you!
