Wasn't really looking for a project but have to do a save on X-25-289 before she was parted and destroyed.

Very interesting boats. Kudos to you for saving this Art Deco icon of a bygone era.

Well, she's a handful, but congratulations on stepping in. Wait...stepping up is a better phrase. Anyway, these are a class act, and last I looked Chris Craft is no longer carrying this line... CQ

She has a lot of rot in the bottom. She is a single screw with CC W original 160 h.p. engine. All her hardware is there with the exception of the horn cover. We pulled the engine and are bringing it to the shop for rebuild. We are planning a bottom up full restoration starting with the engine, stripping cataloging and re-chroming the hardware, with a hull flip and hull repairs planed for Spring of 2016. Should be a two year project.

Sweet!

Where did you find her? Where are you restoring her?

I LOVE these things!

I have a friend who is having his W rebuilt this winter with WBR parts. Should bring it from 160Hp to 200Hp.

PM me if you want, I want to see this one in person. :D

Troy, I figured you'd get a kick out of this one. Got the boat from a guy who removes derelict boats and scraps them. He was selling parts so I just bought the whole boat. Paid less than I would have and more than my wife wanted me to pay. There aren't many boat I'd buy in this condition at this stage of the game, but the Red and White is one of them. plus my son is on board with me on this one and he has the skill and the energy to pull it off. The boats too big for our general contracting shop so for now she sits in my driveway. Well get the hardware stripped off before bad weather and shrink wrap the hull till spring. Putting up a 24x48 pole barn on my property large enough the do the flip and hull work and Winter storage for the 36. You should come on down sometime and check it out. Leave the Flagship home. No varnish on a Red and White.

I like these - a lot. Thanks for stepping up and saving this. Looks like a big project, but then again they all do, don't they? I might want to own one of these one day, now is not the right time but I have thought rather seriously of them in the past.

Best of luck with the project!

Thanks for the support and congrats, although condolences would probably be more appropriate. It going to be a long haul getting this one back together. The twin in Texas looks to be in about the same poor condition as mine. One Red and White at a time is plenty for me, but hopefully there's another nut like me out there willing to take it on. These boats are drop dead gorgeous when their all done up and worthy of a save.

If someone wants the Ft Worth boat, I will pick it up for them. I have been watching that boat for years but the owner was not that interested in selling. Now that it it looks like it is really getting bad he is ready. We see this too many times.

Jim F., I'm glad to hear from you. Seeing Old Paint as an example of what can be is a great motivator. I'm a ways away from getting this one anywhere close to looking like your Red and White. Just starting the restoration process and there will be questions as we go along. Great to know there's another Red and White owner on the Buzz that's been there done that.

Anything I can do to help please contact me. There needs to be more of these out on the water. yknot has several in storage for restoration. There was one at Hall's on Lake George but it is no longer listed. A couple on eBay lately. There may be one in Michigan available!
