Cleaning up the Riviera

Cleaning up the Riviera

Post by nyholku » Wed Aug 04, 2010 1:31 am

Hi,

now that -53 Riviera is here I need to get it afloat to test it.

I thought I'd start with by getting cleaned up.

So any tips are welcome.

What to use and how to go about it.

The upholstery is dusty and dirty. I've got some Turtle Wax
leather cleaner and conditioner cream, is that suitable?

How about the decks and hull, gentle sponge job with dishwasher
and what solution or what?

I'll be asking a ton of question before I launch, I guess, but I'll make a separate
topic out of each.

Hello, and congratulations on you new project!

Seats, if they are leather I have luck with Connolly Leather care. You could try the product you have on a small under piece to see if it gives good results. I am not sure if they are leather but maybe a Naugahyde substitute. If they are not leather I clean with a gentle cleaner then use a product called 303. Works great on my 57 cushions.

Hull, I use dish soap to start, it is gentle enough to not damage anything but strong enough, with a little help, to cut 50 year old grease.

Hope this helps

Max

Hi Max,

thanks, your tips help, I'll have a go. The upholstery is some maroon and white, which I suspect is not original as only the first some crafts were supposed to be maroon. Looks like leather but I suspect it is something synthetic.
