Argentine runabout project

Winterizing? Summerizing? Covering? Trailering? If it is about a boat out of water put it here.

That's a cool boat John, you seem to be coming along nicely.

I wondered while looking at the pics whether it was Cedrela, and obviously that came up later in the thread. I have a good friend with a Sparkman and Stephens 36 foot sloop build of Spanish Cedar.... and it was built in Argentina in 1962. One thing to note about Spanish Cedar: because of it's relative density, it expands and contracts more than other members of the mahogany family. Gary's boat is tight planked and leaks like a sieve first thing in the spring, and within a day or so tightens right up.

yes, Peter a great power plant for sure.

Now I have to determine order of reassembly. I have the boat down low on some of those 4 caster wooden dollies...shimmed and wedged where needed.
I would like to keep the hull down step-in low for next phase, rather than putting it back on the trailer...but the trailer with its bunks would better distribute/hold up the weight of the engine and trans....guessed at around 700 plus pounds.
Scantlings on this boat are not all that stout or beefy either...so I must be cautious. maybe a dolly train....2 under transom, 2 under center of engine.....one at the bow....would allow me to roll her out and insert engine and roll back into the show, still down low, and the doors would close (plenty of winter left)....doors to the shop will not close when boat on trailer etc etc.

all suggestions welcome.

Flatties weigh about the same as SBC.... and you're close with the transmission, about 700...
