Trailer Axles, Should I Be Seeing Double?

Winterizing? Summerizing? Covering? Trailering? If it is about a boat out of water put it here.

I looked into the run flat tire idea, and it's a non-starter. They are not available in the ST rating. I did see a good idea: to install pressure monitors on the tire stems. Airstream trailer folks use these to detect pressure loss before a failure occurs.

Moose, The biggest problems I see with trailer tires are inflation and wheel bearings

Right on Doug. One more thing is wheel size. People dont realize that an 8" or 12" wheel is spinning at one and a half to two times the rpms of the tow vehicle wheels. Not even fishing boats belong on 8" wheels. No wonder the bearings fail.

My opinion.

Dual axel
No 12" tires
Disk breaks, Check with the DMV in the states you plan to run in some require breaks on both axels
Correct springs for the load
Torsion may ride to low for your inboard
Prop guard
Rear guide posts (I have mine marked for water depth at the launch I use)
Correct bow Stop (look at other postings on the boat buzz)
Axel location is very important, balance, tounge weight, a good starting point is the front axel is under the front of the engine
LED lights

That's great Mike.

It makes a triple axle under the 25' Gar seem wimpy.
