I am finally done with customer boats and will be getting this 19 footer ready for the international boat show. This 19 foot barrel was originally delivered to Montréal Canada in 1939. I will do the minimal amount of restoration in order to get the Chris to be a user preserved survivor boat. To date I have reconstructed the cockpit separation bridge and the seating wood work that was missing. Today we spun the engine over and feel it may be good.
I will be removing engine to wipe down and get running, flipping boat over to clean check bottom , and paint. Flip back lightly sand topsides , little stain blend and 2 or 3 coats varnish. Install new interior, install engine , new gas tank, clean and install hardware.
That's it , steve

Re: 48609 Preserve Plan
Sounds like it will be a very nice "preserved" boat.

Re: 48609 Preserve Plan
I always chose preserved over full restored unless the boats just gone past the point of preservation. I'm an old guy and I like old boats that look old. The perfect restorations are great but kinda boring to my eye next to a user vintage original. Love the old patina! Takes many years to get that look. Nice Boat!

Steve, I just think it's so interesting and rare to find a CC from 1939 in unrestored original condition. Must be a great story to go along with it? Glad she's being preserved. Thanks for the photos!
