16' Riviera ?? Value

Post by Pete DeVito » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:33 pm

I came across a 16' Riviera today I think it is a 1950. There were only 174 of these little boats built in 1950 and 1951. The boat was restored and never put in the water. I could not find anything on the Hagerty site on a 16' Riviera. It has the litlle four cylinder engine that was also rebuilt the chrome is fair. Any clue of what this little boat would be worth. The trailer is trash!!

There not worth near what the 18' are. Chris Craft cut cut the production short because they weren't selling. They are underpowered. Also any model 16' and under is hard to sell.

This is a cute little boat a little short and not sure how the little 4 cyl will perform. It may be good for a young newcomer to the hobby like one of my grandson's.

We are restoring a 1950 16' Rivera in the shop right now. A lady owns it on a smaller lake here in Michigan which I think is a perfect match for boat and owner. Were putting on the new 5200 bottom, painting the inner hull, new wiring and giving it a fresh coat of varnish. The engine is the original for the boat and with a new rear seal in the transmission she should run for a long time. This boat also has most of its original interior in good condition. After its all done I would value the boat at about $25,000. With one person in the boat it should preform all right (she's all of 100 lbs) you just can't load these things up with 5 people and go for a ride, the engine just won't do it. It's a cool little boat.
