For the sides, what you are seeing in the picture are wide out side boards, 6 of them with the widths 5" at the ends, then narrowing to just under 4" in the middle of the boat. They are 1/2" thick. On the inside is the strapping closing the gaps between the boards, so only two boards wide. The bottom of the boat is straight planks on the outside, then diagonal planks touching the frame. Under only the seats is a third layer running width wise, but this looks like it was added in Canada as there are Robertson screws.

Well, I was able to contact Blake A Mann out of Wallaceburg Ontario who is the expert on Mac-Craft Boats. He was able to dig out some old photographs from the 80’s where he and his father were looking at a Mac-Craft. The boat had the same bow, the same outer planking, even the same windshield.

Thank you to all the readers who helped identify my boat!

Best regards,

Warren.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck.

I, for one, like things that are unique. I had never heard of Mac-Craft before this thread. (guess I need to get more of Speltz books) I think with the link to Chris Craft your boat is a real treasure. Please keep us informed with pictures and posts on the progress of your restoration. :D
