Racing in 1953

Post by drrot » Mon Feb 22, 2016 9:46 am

While cleaning the office I found these vintage photos labeled 1953. They are posted at http://www.finewoodboats.com/1953%20races.htm for all to enjoy.

These are great Jim!

What is the deal with G25? It looks like that nose would dig in and send you ass over elbows in a spit second.

Jim those pics are AWESOME! I find the boats in the background to be as cool as the Hydros.

Imagine all those pics from 1953 and they all say WWW.FINEWOODBOATS.COM on them. Al Gore must have been busy at a young age to have start the internet way back then.

If you are cleaning out the office that must mean the half price sale is coming right up. :D

We may be looking at one of the 20 ft custom prototypes here (runabout in background). Could be a Mercury if a west coast race but looks too beamy in the transom for a 19 Custom.

The mix of design among these (race) boats is beyond cool.

Thanks, Jim, for sharing.

Perhaps. Maybe that's why there are no photos of G25 from 1954. :D

Thanks for sharing Jim!

Jim, could the photos have been taken on the Mississippi River near Muscatine, Iowa? A lot of racing went on there in those days.

Al,
With that big power plant in the background I was thinking Buffalo. Could be anywhere tho.
