copper exhaust pipe

Post by John Cederstrom » Tue May 16, 2017 1:42 pm

Will regular soldered joints hold up on an exhaust pipe or do they require silver-solder?

I would use silver solder on the exhaust pipe.
it is much stronger and should hold up to the heat and vibration much better than conventional solder.

Neither,
TIG-WELD Copper is necessary and not all that difficult.

Don I would agree that tig is best and probably better looking too depending on who does it but to answer the question directly, regular old lead solder works just fine.

180-195 temp. Lead will fail, been there, done that, silver solder will not, tig is best.
