bilge paint color
who can tell me the color of the bilge in an 18 ft. 1932 runabout model 301. I have 3 shades of grey at the moment.

Grind down the coatings on any 'original' interior framework and decide for yourself. Some were greenish, some bluish....,
The way Chris Smith explained this to me in the early 90's was; 'Many more cruisers were produced, so left-over white hull paint, and apparently some other colors, were dumped into barrels to be used later for bilge paint, just to seal the wood.'
In the ensuing 86 years, other colors may have come close?
This is what I found from the original bilge stringers of a 1931, 22ft upswept;

This is what I found on the bottom of the bilge stringers, which apparently had never been re-coated?
