The number was on the outer beam holding the starboard forward 1st engine hatch.

John, The number is not somethng I have seen before. The boat seems to be very differant from a stock Chris Craft. Several modifications. Seams to me that Chris Craft had some form of entity in Europe. I am wondering if there may be something here we are not aware of. :? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for asking and sorry for the late reply. Lately i became father of a Beautifull daughter named Kirsten. Its my second daughter,and her name is Elina. I still had to give my Cavalier a name it will be "Kirina" as a result from both names of my daughters. Last few weeks i`ve been very busy with the boat, grinding, grinding and priming new antifouling, and new varnish. She is comming out as a real Chris Craft ! Unfortunately i still didn`t find any other ID then what i found sofar : GX8-7899 or OX8-7897 :shock:

New antifouling and waterline (slightly lowered)

Redone the sidebeam

polished the aluminium strip

bought 4bladed props with bigger pitch because of the diesel engines. (still had the original 3blade 13 11p :S

This afternoon she will hit the water after a name ceremony :wink:

unfortunate reply from the museum;

It appears to be a Constellation or perhaps a Catalina, but the hull number does not make sense. 789_ is much too high a number. Even 789 is too high. What is the length of your boat? Do you have the original engines installed? If so, we might be able to research this through the engine model & serial numbers

CXC was used for the 37ft Constellation in 1965.

CXG was used for the 36ft Constellation in 1969

I will continue to look for a valid serial

Did you ever find out what your boat was? After looking at your pictures again I think that it may have started out life as a Cavilier Express. Then later it was modified into what you have now, a hardtop added. The construction framing up by the windshield does not look like anything that Chris Craft did. This would also explain your question about the windows
