Constellation Enthuasiasts

Post by whamm511 » Mon May 27, 2013 1:50 pm

I have tried at least 3 times to join the Constellation Enthuasiasts Group and have never received a reply. When I have resubmitted a request to join I get a message that says I have already sent a request. Is this group still active? Does it have a moderator? Just what is it's status?

Hi Bill!

Same thing happens to me.

I also notice that there is not a select category for Connies, like there is for Roamers. I just figured it was because Constellation's were built under the regular Chris Craft division and not a seperate company.

Hope we get to the bottom of this.

I checked the Main Division and there are user groups for all of the other lines except Constellation. For the single most successful line in Chris Craft's history I'm just surprised that there doesn't seem to be an active user group, especially when it shows up in the list.

Ok, I guess I have to spill the beans. Us Connie owners are a bit shy about being foolish enough to own one so we keep a low profile. Now you know...

you guys need to have a consultation about the combination of conformation and consternation of having a constellation. Chill, you got em, now flaunt em! Go Boating!

I've come to appreciate both the Cavaliers and the Seastrakes but I got lucky when I got my Connie. I knew nothing about any of the Chris Craft divisions or the differences between the Cruiser models. Now that I have one I'm of course interested in finding out as much as I can about Connies because there are some differences in construction. Just think there ought to be an Enthuasiasts group and there is one listed but no one seems to be moderating it.

I hope some other Connie folks will step up and join you! You could go through the listings in the back of an ACBS directory and find connie owners.

Perhaps there is good reason why the user group apparently isn't functioning. I'd like to hear back from Club management if there is a moderator and why it's not functioning.

I LOVE the idea of the Connie I bought just last fall, however right now I am feeling like my chewing capacity has been exceeded by my appetite and am actually considering putting her on the market.

These posts are old, but I have often wondered if there was a Constellation group similar to the Commander group. I have a nice 1960 36-ft Constellation hull number CXA-36-138H which is on the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club Hull Registry...Any more information on a Constellation group?

Chris,

I asked that question last year and apparently there isn't an actual Constellation Enthusiasts group. Reason being, apparently we're considered the main stream (Main Div.) so by default we're included. I am still of the opinion that Cruisers are enough different from the smaller boats that we should have a group. That being said we can still run a thread that's devoted to Constellations / Cruisers.

My Connie is also a 1960 36'. It started out as an Express but had an enclosed wheelhouse custom constructed sometime early in its life. Mine was originally delivered to Staff(ord) Jennings there in Portland but was moved to Seattle. I bought it in 2010 and moved it back here to Michigan. I understand that they're still in business but that the original location has been torn down.

Why don't you post some pictures of yours and tell us the story of your Connie. Mine is Hull # CXA-36-184H so not too far from yours.
