What do I need to do to have my original 6 volt horn work on a 12 volt system?

You might try a 6 to 12V resistor. Might be worth converting horn. j

You can use either a voltage regulator or a resistor.
The resistor must be rated for the current load and you will have figure what your resistance is now and that will be the value of the resistor. The resistor will mostly likely heat up as it will be dissipating half the power of the circuit so be careful where you mount it.
I have to agree with Greg - you are better off either converting or replacing the horn.

You can mount another 6 volt horn and wire the 2 of them in series, twice the volume and no heat to dissipate.
