Hull stiffnes for trim tabs

If it doesn't pertain to metal, fiberglass, wire or fabric—but it is about classic fiberglass Chris-Crafts, ask your question or give your advice here.

Hull stiffnes for trim tabs

Post by Mr Bradley » Wed May 04, 2016 4:55 pm

I have a 1974 22' Dory. It needs to have trim tabs. The Boatyard has indicated they need to stiffen the transom to accommodate Lenco 12' X 12" electric tabs. This requires removal of the gas tank among other items. Has anyone added tabs to a 1974 22' Dory? If so, can you give me any advice?

I would suggest looking at a smaller trim tab... At work we have been using a lot of the Bennet Sport Tab series M80/M120 are compact 8" and 12" tabs that don't demand the space or strength like the bigger 12x12 tabs do..
