1966 18' Sea Skiff Flooring

I intend to remove the rotten white batten board floor in the boat and replace it with a new Teak floor over 1/2 marine plywood. I know this is not original but I think it would improve the boat. I think an oil finish would be better then a varnish finish but have read several messages about the great looks of varnished Teak on a boat.I intend to router, ( groove) out the wood joints and black them out like the new floor is on a new Chris Craft.I did some shopping and got a super deal on 1/2" unfinished Teak. The storage compartments will be edged in metal. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions?

Respectfully,
