So by time I got the heads out here and got them reconditioned, it was going to cost almost as much as a remanufactured engine ready to go and delivered to my garage door. Turned out to be a good thing because when I pulled the oil pan on the old motor there was still about an inch of milky sludge and a lot of metal in there. I said a nice thank you and saluted the old motor for 45 years of service (17 of which were mine as I'm the 3rd owner) before shipping it back for the core deposit. Cleaning and reassembly in progress.
