Marine Power 350 stalls when put into gear

Post by 1sgcasper » Wed Mar 28, 2012 8:03 am

Need some help guys. I have a 1979 33' CC Catalina sedan with twin marine power 350's. I recently did oil change, spark plug w/ wires change and put new carburetors on and motors run great at the dock. Smooth running all the way to 4500 rpm but when I untied her and idle out and I get 200 yards from the dock under 1 engine power and try to engage 2 engine and it shuts down as soon as I try to put tranny in any gear. Tried boosting rpm of 2nd engine and then shift and same result. Then 1st engine stalls and starts doing the same thing. What is causing this issue? Finally got back to dock and once again they ran fine in neutral. Please give me some advise.

See the thread on the tight paragon that should be near the top of the engine and power train section. There are a number of things in there that could be your issue as well.
