Maritime Heritage Festival ~ Portland, Oregon

Post by MikeM » Wed Jul 01, 2009 7:05 pm

I'm writing to let my fellow buzzers know about the 3rd annual Maritime Heritage Festival which will be taking place on July 23, 24 and 25. Aside from a stunning array of great antique and classic boats, we have dozens of land displays showing off and selling their wares, also kid activities and even a civil war re-enactment! We have a full schedule of on-water activities including a water ski show, a hydro plane exhibition and more.

Held in the heart of downtown Portland, this event drew nearly 40,000 visitors last year. This is a great excuse to check out the great northwest. Your significant other is only steps away from a thriving downtown with plenty of shopping, fine dining and museums. All the while you're looking at the great boats and maybe even getting a waterside tour of Portland.

We've got a few "international" boats of the year registered for the event and would love to have you here to check it all out. Check us out online at www.maritimeheritagefestival.com

I went to this show last year as a spectator and I must say I had a blast. This year I will attend with a boat. If any of you reading this are in the area mark your colander and attend – you will not regret.

This looks like a fun show! I know several of our Pacific Northwest ACBS Chapter members are planning on taking boats down for the show this weekend, and I think I will be going to the show too. Should be some nice hot, summer sun according to the weather report.

I'm glad to report that we have been sold out for the past several weeks. The docks are full, our land displays are full and our meals are all full. We are all looking forward to a great (and HOT) show this year!

One of the cool things happening Saturday morning is that our woodies will be escorting off-shore racing boats through downtown Portland for their Poker Run. As soon as the big boats get past our show they're gonna go hammer down and race out of Portland. There is a heat of these boats that cruise at over 100MPH! Should be quite a contrast.

It's not too late.....Portland is where it's at this weekend!
