Alton Boat Festival

Post by Al Benton » Tue Jun 29, 2010 4:46 pm

The 5th Annual Classic Boat Festival at Alton Marina hosted by Mississippi Valley Chapter, ACBS was rather dry this year in spite of the flooding Mississippi River. Dry in that we had a parking lot full of great antique and classic boats but only 2 in-water displays, 2 cruisers that braved the high water and strong current.

The launch ramp was flooded so we did the next best thing and displayed all of the trailered boats on the parking lot, including a 1951, 31' Chris-Craft cruiser (photo later).

We had a display of old wood boats that are in process of restoration along with Jack McCarthy fron The Wooden Boat Shop in Cincinnatti on hand to show us some of his techniques and to answer questions. This was well received by our members and some of guests. Thanks, Jack.
