35th Annual Meeting & International Boat Show

Post by maritimeclassics » Mon Aug 30, 2010 12:07 pm

I am wondering who will be joining us in beautiful Northern Michigan for the International show this year. This is an amazing place to relax and do as much boating as you can possibly imagine. I have been to almost all of the International shows and I would have to say with what the Water Wonderland Chapter has planned for activities and the beauty that surrounds the Petoskey area this will be the best ever. Please you still have time don’t miss it! bayharbor2010.com

Mike,

You know I wish I could be there. I was supposed to be there with a boat, then not, then yes, and now I have to be somewhere else. I was really looking forward to drinking your beer.

Represent The Club for us as well. It does not look like Terry, Bill, or Don can make it either.

Well, I'll be there with the Gar, after stopping at Mike's for a pre-show detail. I get the 2000 mile drive, Karen gets the 3 hour flight.

Mike, here is the perfect storm that is brewing. I will be at the Lake Geneva Show in Wisconsin, on September 24-25. The International show is one weekend prior. Then there's the Warner Auction in October.

On a priority scale, I am committed to be at Lake Geneva. It's a great show that is on the grow, and the venue is awesome. The ACBS International show will be at Lake Geneva in 2011. So this is kind of a practice run.

2nd on the list would be the International Show in Bay Harbor. This is a beautiful time of year in a stunning part of the country. And from what I have heard about Bay Harbor, you just don't find much better.

The Warner auction is high on the list of things I want to do. But I need to consider all based on what I can afford to do...time and money.

I will say I still *might* be there, but it is crunch time and I have to make a decision. Do you have any knowledge of the number of attendees registered thus far?

I know as of last Wednesday there were 104 boats registered for the boat show and still more coming in everyday. I had also heard that there were more people registered for the meetings then last year so I am thinking that attendance is up. Russ should have some more information on numbers so maybe he can give us a breakdown.

I'll be at Bay Harbor with my boat and family.

I'll be at the Lake Geneva show (sans boat), and only on Saturday.

I'm passing on the Warner Auction. My annual "boat show funds" for the year will be tapped. Attending that would be like taking a broke, recovering alcoholic to a liquor convention to hang out with his buddies and watch 'em drink.

Glad I read this post! Would love to go down to Petoskey and view the show. Saturday the 18th has been long ago booked for me... But there is always Friday!

Ok, only 5 people are going to be there for the club? Good thing about 15+ of us from the Smith family will be there. If you are a cruiser lover this is the show, from what I have heard there will be a bunch of them. No other international Show has the capability to cruise lOng distances with a large boat to a show. Should be very cool.

While I have been an ACBS member for only a few years I have been a supporter of the hobby since I was 6 years old. Our first woody was was kept at the Lindsay Park Yacht Club in Davenport, Ia. back in the 60s.

This will be my first annual ACBS event and look forward to the festivities!

As the Mecum Auction representative, we plan to have both the 1964 63' Whiticar "Elegante" being sold in Fort Lauderdale Oct. 30th and the 1929 Dingle "Gerry Lo" from the Warner Collection auction Oct. 16th on display. FYI, the Dingle is powered by a V12 Rolls Royce! Feel free to come by and visit.

Me and the Woody Boatress will be there. It may be less of a reporting deal though and a vacation... That is one stunning place and I intend to bask in all of it. See you all there..

He'll be modeling his latest WoodyBoater Druel Cup so the locals may want to hang around for the photo-op.

Well, it took 2 hours to build the courage to "click" on that. OMG! Wish I hadn't!

After over 2 hours there's no replies. Either folks are still in shock or they're still "galking". I'm throwing up in the nearest waste basket.

Matt, true! I should have known, coming from The Woody Boater it wouldn't be PG rated (unless that means Plenty Gross).

Wow, nice pictures and some way over the top boats. Wish I could have attended. Funny how lily’s seem appear at the transom of your boat… nicely done.

I just wanted to say congratulations to my good friend Dan Nelson for restoring the 2010 ACBS Boat of the Year - Restored, Torpedo, a 1941 Chris-Craft 19' Barrelback owned by Jack Beatly. I saw it in Dan's shop two weeks ago and knew it would be a contender.

Also congratulations to Doug Morin for preserving the late Tom Mittler's 1931 40' Hackercraft, Lockpat II, winner of the 2010 ACBS Boat of the Year - Preserved. It is truly one of the greatest boats of all time. Danny Acierno also deserves a congratulations for restoring one of the greatest marine engines of all time, the Packard V-12 in Lockpat II.
